Im not paying for the weak anymore.
More mental health services just means more taxes to be pilfered by the democrats. frick that. Time to go back to survival of the fittest

Begger tried me in Austin. He was clean and talking on a brand new Apple phone while doing it. It's out there. You just don't want to see it.

Ok. I see where youre coming from. I agree but do note that addiction is considered a mental illness:
Addiction is a disease of the brain.
Temporary and voluntary.
I'm a recovered alcoholic. I understand addiction better than most.
Recovery doesn't happen when life is easy for an addict.

You are just so used to seeing normal people look homeless

If you’re so concerned, then help them yourself with your own money.
I didn’t get them started on drugs and it’s not my place to get them off drugs. They can get help if they want, most don’t..

You need money to get help bro. No money, no insurance, no fricking help...
Believe me, I have spent 3 months trying to help a close friend and they are still on several waiting lists, and have been getting the run around from medicare the entire time.
That's the real problem, people like you have NO IDEA how fricked up our "rehab" system really is. This person wants help more than anything and can't get it...
So whats your solution...?
Oh and this is alcohol addiction, not hard drugs. Its pathetic.

1) You are asking her to do something other than virtue signal
2) If Liberals wanted to invest in helping :insertcauseofthedayhere: they would all donate until they couldn't give another dime. As a group they could solve most any problem if they really wanted to do so. However, instead of actually doing something, they cry for mommy government to take action for them.

bullshite. I've been doing the legwork for 3 months. This person needs actual rehab, their attempt to stop on their own caused high blood pressure, severe mental issues including hallucinations, and a seizure...

Not sure where you live, but everywhere I have been has plenty of help for the poor. You're probably looking at for profit centers which take only insurance or cash.

Yep, there's housing availably locally for those that want to quit.
Some cities even have housing in which they can drink.

I have them on 4 waiting lists for non-profit centers. It has been 3 months and we have been told it may be another 3. Believe me, I thought this would be much smoother, but the truth is, no one gives a frick about helping addicts. They'd rather criminalize them and pay tax money to crooked arse private prisons.

My experience has been totally different. Might check into some hospital behavioral units out of town.

Incarceration is the only thing that works with these people. You cannot issue them a citation or fine them. Loss of personal freedom is the only material consequence that can faze them. Many of the ones under the Pontchartrain Expressway in NOLA are part of an organized operation. They have a sponsor who owns a flophouse where they sleep at night in exchange for a cut of the day's collection. Liberal excuses for them such as "substance abuse" or "mentally ill" do not apply. They are making money off the generosity of ignorant and naive people.
If we are going to lock folks up for making money off the generosity of ignorant and naive people ALL churches are going to be in deep trouble.....that’s the only way any church can operate.
So we are seriously proposing tossing homeless and hungry people in jail for being homeless and hungry? The sheer arrogance of such an idea is as appealing as anything man has ever done to his fellow man in the long sordid history of mankind. I’m not a Christian so I genuinely think that all lives matter and anyone who hasn’t harmed anyone else should be left the frick alone. If a person is so damned hateful that they’d willingly see their brothers and sisters imprisoned for ask8ng for help that is the person who should be removed from our society.

A federal law regarding panhandling? Wow.

That statute was struck down for being vague. A law that is now vague and is not ambiguous that does not violate the Constitution would be upheld.
Why didn’t Jacksonville redraft an unambiguous law in the intervening 45 years if it were that easy?

I don’t even know what “more mental health services” even means. More drug rehab places? I mean, that’s good and fine but don’t we taxpayers already pay for programs that the homeless can utilize? Food, housing, phone, medical. Can homeless people not get food stamps or Section 8 or Medicaid?
