The only positive of living in Ellic is not having to deal with BR traffic.

Holy shite, I take it back. Still stay off the phones in traffic but how the frick does this happen?

BATON ROUGE – Morning-long gridlock caused by a truck that pulled down utility lines across I-12 continued into Friday afternoon and police were not sure as to when the interstate would be opened.
I-12 closed at Essen Lane around 9:30 Friday when the lines toppled onto the highway. A truck, police said, pulled them down after the rig and the lines got tangled together. It was unclear if the truck was too high, the lines too low or what other snafu might have caused the issue but police said it happened on a surface street along I-12 off Essen.

Update: Entergy says power lines should be cleared off I12 by 2:00 today.

There are seven trucks there now.

I just drove out to get my lunch off of sherwood and it is horrendous. Southbound sherwood at airline is super backed up, siegen is super congested, airline is very congested as well.

Other than the high tension transmission lines, why so many parts of BR and NOLA still have low hanging lines for residential , boggles the mind....2 words: underground lines, study it and get back to the general populace in 20 or so years after some well placed cronys get rich

It's gotta be the lines. The clearance on the Essen overpass is lower than the lines IIRC.

i'll bet that truck driver is gonna shite when he gets the bill for all of this.

Natchitoches resident here, my drives to NOLA are a nice and peaceful 80+ mph all the way to Lafayette, then its like slowly entering the 3rd gate of hell the rest of the way.

I attempted to run home during this mess. I didn't make it far before turning around.
To help the traffic situation, there is a cop on Jefferson @ Essen blocking 1 lane of traffic heading eastbound. What purpose this serves other than to add to the clusterfrick of Baton Rougestan, i have no idea.

Well, considering those lines existed in that location much longer than the truck, i'd say the truck was too high.

The Essen overpass is right there though. Surely the lines weren't lower than that.

Must be those variable height powerlines that raise and fall every couple hours. That would be the only acceptable answer to hitting the powerlines and dragging them down, other than the bucket crew is run by some of BR's brightest.

People who have to drive across the new bridge into BR at rush hour on a daily basis deserve some sort of a civilian medal after a certain amount of time. I can't fricking imagine the torture.
