No real thoughts but looking at news events surrounding China. Interesting, coincindental,or nothing at all.
Remembering having heard that Michigan was a preliminary target for impact.

They should shoot it down with their hypersonic missiles

Will FAA drone restrictions apply in this case? i.e., how close over my house am I legally okay to shoot down this piece of metal before supposedly doing damage?
You would think our government would take a little target practice of annihilating this piece of space junk.

Change the title so DavidTheGnome doesn't come in here.

Isn’t Hydrazine unstable? Wouldn’t it likely blow up and be a relatively non issue?
Also seems more like a case of China refusing to admit they made a mistake rather than intentionally trying to damage the US with space junk.

Zhu Congpeng, from China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporate said: "We have been continuously monitoring Tiangong-1 and expect to allow it to fall within the first half of this year."
"It will burn up on entering the atmosphere and the remaining wreckage will fall into a designated area of the sea, without endangering the surface."
The odds of being struck by a space debris are one in 1.2trillion.
Tiangong-1, which means 'heavenly palace' in Chinese, is carrying a highly toxic chemical called hydrazine.
The material is used as rocket fuel, but exposure to humans is believed to cause symptoms like nausea and seizures, with long-term contact said to cause cancer.

Seriously, is there a reason we cannot blow this thing up if it threatens our country? I would assume we have the technology to do it.

Would think that if we tried and failed, how that could make us look.
Also if we have this shoot-down technology, we might not want to expose it for this purpose?
There just seems to be quite a bit of Chinese news though. Trade war (is not a war), lifetime president Xi, NK meeting: first time Coolio leaves NK, etc.

Exactly. See Coventry, England and Winston Churchill.

Hydrazine is used in many power plants to scavenge dissolved oxygen in their boiler feedwater.
It's a health hazard for long term exposure but it's not going to blow up or anything.

IIRC we did blow up some space junk using a ship-based missile. However I think it was our stuff we blew up.

If they drop their dookey on my property I will sue, and slap a lien on their US holdings to make sure I get paid
