Were you in a position to potentially do something for him or just a nobody? How a man treats someone who can do nothing for him says a lot about his character.

He is probably correct that if he had played college football right out of high school, he probably would have developed into an NFL QB.

What I disagree with is the idea that LSU was the "wrong" fit for him in 1994. Had he gone to LSU at that time, he would have been there for the 1995-97 seasons, which were good seasons for LSU. He would have been part of Dinardo's mini-revival, and he would have graduated before the abysmal 1998 & 1999 seasons. All of this assumes he would have beaten out Herb Tyler (not a great assumption -- Tyler was very underrated).

tl;dr Booty's LSU career would have been very good from 1995-1997.

we scored 3 points, actually But yes Booty had one of the worst performances by a QB in LSU history in that game: 6/27, 65 yards, 2 INTs

It was cold man I mean coldddd

Don't know where he got that from. I have no earthly idea No way we were going to any BCS Bowl with an 8-3 record and one of those losses being UAB

I'm certain and it was The Orange Bowl and LSU was a lock for the bid if they won. I did not remember the field goal. I do remember the hogg fans throwing spit filled ice on me and my girl all afternoon at War Memorial Stadium. She a Notre Dame grad was horrified. My foot did not unthaw until we were halfway back to Dallas, TX.

Question is, if no JB in the beginning, would we have had a shot at Manning??

Just like his brother, John David, he did not have the physical tools or physique to be an NFL caliber QB. John David was great at USC. He made and NFL roster for one season and then the practice squad the next season. He was then out for good. It was more due to his size and physique then anything else. A lot of that is genetics.

the 2000 Orange Bowl followed the 1999 season. it was on January 1, 2000. The Orange Bowl following the 2000 season was the national championship game. But regardless, no LSU wasn't a lock. Heading to the last week of the season we were not ranked in the BCS and were ranked #23 in AP Poll and were unranked in the Coaches Poll. In no way, were we a lock or even in consideration for a BCS Bowl at any point in 2000. That #23 ranking was the only poll we appeared in the entire season until the final AP Poll

I think you're mis-remembering. In 2002 we allowed a hail mary against Arkansas to lose the West. That may be the game you're thinking of.

I’d like to point out that I said essentially the same-ish thing in 2 different posts. Basically that Booty was sort of correct for his statement, because Dinardo. First post has 70 something downvotes and 5 upvotes. Second comment 42 up and 0 down.

I will say the second comment was a bit more specific. But holy frick, the hive mind.....the Facebook effect is real.

Idc about downvotes just odd

He tried to dive from the 2. What was dumb about the play is two guys were wide open in the endzone right in front of him.

Remember Saban chewing his arse out right before halftime over an unnecessary time out and pretty well figured his career was done for at that point. Davey came in for the second half and Booty was done for. Booty's arrogance is what did him in - not LSU.
