Well - professional franchises tend to have a low ROR for the investment.
Depending on how the estate was set up, there could be majors tax implications.

Gayle manipulated the old senile man and stole everything. Sad situation because Benson cut out all of his grandchildren not just Rita and the mother.

Gayle was doin work. You have to frick some people both figuratively and literally to become a billionaire. Benson had no true successor anyway. It was either the wife or a bunch of adopted kids. Give it to the wife, at least she was there till the end. Frankly I would have given the wealth to the closest biological relative. Keep it in the bloodline. When you are a billionaire you have a lot of leeches and very few friends.

Ive met Benson at the racetrack a 2 years ago. He kept repeating and forgetting things. I hope his wife didn't manipulate him into giving evening to her

Think most are overlooking what it takes to make such a decision; courage, yes, courage. Regardless of the severity of there actions, which have been pretty extreme, they are still your decendtents. Most do not have what it takes to face the obvious personal, public & professional response.

Mr. B was quite a guy - RIP

Dude. Didn’t CSP supposedly try to have a clause in his contract that said if Rita got the team his contract was void?

I’m not saying /thread, but that leads me to believe Rita hasn’t exactly been wronged by grandpas new wife.

He did. The nfl said he couldn't have it, but clearly Payton hated the bitch that much.

I trust Tom Benson's judgement here.
Just please Gayle.... don't move the team or sell to someone who will.

Rita made a huge mistake on several occasions being disrespectful to Gail and TB blew a top. I know it’s a lot more than that but I think all that going down when Rita thought she could get by with it was not smart on her behalf.

I assume she will sell. She has no heirs.
I then assume the proceeds of the sale go to charity after she passes.
Please give the Mannings a home town deal! I don't want some "investment" group coming in and only worrying about dollar signs. This team carries the energy of the city and state.

I will they would allow her to sell shares like the Packers and insure that the team never leaves New Orleans.

A little off topic but man that 25 year old TRex shot held up so well! 6 hours of computation back then to render one frame of that by the way.

Not really, she looks like an attractive and classy older woman to me. She may be one but I wouldn't say she looks like one. This is what the ultimate gold digger looks like.

Rita has to be a fricking crazy bitch to not be able to get along with someone when there is that much money on the line.

I'd heard stories that Rita apparently became a nightmare after the resurgence of the team with Payton, Brees and Bush. She was a more and more frequent sight in the New Orleans social scene and her behavior at Saints offices became erratic and explosive.

She went through dozens of personal assistants, had a short fuse and was apparently a pretty vicious and unpleasant person. She seemed more interested in being known as an NFL owner than actually doing the duties of an NFL owner. Payton and Loomis didn't hide their distrust and disdain for her.

All that was second and third and I have no way to verify any of it, but it meshes with several narratives I heard play out between 2006 and the season she was excommunicated from the franchise.

It's strange because Rita was literally brought up in the organization. She learned the inner workings of the entire team from the ticket office to the training facilities. She was being groomed since she was young to be the person to carry the Saints into the future and in the end, she was more interested in being a fat cat owner than anything that resembled the hard work that got Tom to his millions (and then billions).

I bet it was heart-breaking for Tom.

The crazy thing is, is that she really didn't have to actually DO much more than just "play along nicely." I mean, at the end of the day, she basically traded a billion dollars for the opportunity to be a raging prima donna bitch. I can't imagine she now thinks it was worth it.
