It's not about kids having independent thought. it's about them getting up from their job and leaving just because they want to.

I would guess most of the schools allowing this are letting the students walk onto the athletic field or something.

I would hope that teachers aren't sending fourth graders onto the highway by themselves for 17 minutes.

Serious? People have been melting over these dumb kids for weeks. The poli board has been claiming that one kid is a Democrat conspiracy for weeks now.

In fairness, we may have a gun problem if your first thought is that kids are going to be viciously mowed down simply for going outside.

Wow...you really missed the mark on interpreting what I meant. Maybe I wasn't clear in my post.

What I meant was....if there is some pyschopath out there right now who has been contemplating a school shooting for whatever reason, and he hears about a nationwide walkout, don't you think that person would be intrigued about the possibility of all the kids being outside in the open in one place?

Things could end very poorly.

My kids go to private school. They take their education a little more serious than the liberals brain washing factories.

I would never just get up and go to school then walk out. I just wouldn't show up.

I went to high school in AP and the whole school walking out would result in 5 fist fights, a few arrest, and maybe a shooting. No way this doesnt go to shite.

I do see a common thread here.

Someone needs to be a damned adult and send a school wide email telling every kid/parent that he/she will be suspended if they walk out.

I think they have to treat it like a normal absence.

Ironic you criticize my IQ in this very stupid post. It's such a low IQ move to take what I posted and just say "liberal idiot!!"

What's your kid's school doing? I've heard that the Ascension Parish superintendent sent out an email basically saying it's ok for the kids to walk out so long as there is safety and order.

You heard wrong.
quote:

March 12, 2018 Greetings Ascension Public Schools Families, I hope this message finds you doing well as we make our way through March of 2018. I know our students are working hard to prepare for state testing that will take place during the months of April or May, depending on their grade level. Equally, our teachers are working hard each and every day to support student learning. In fact, our entire staff, no matter what their position, works each day to protect the daily mission of ensuring our students have access to high quality experiences during their time with us. Thanks to everyone, because it takes everyone, to achieve our mission of serving children. We continue to keep the Parkland, FL community in our thoughts as they recover from the February 14th tragedy. We probably all agree, in many ways, they will never be the same. Additionally, we likely all agree the event reminds us to be diligent with regard to our priorities of daily safety and security. We know you all join us as we remain grateful that we have not been faced with such tragedies in our schools. We continue to be thankful to everyone that remains attentive to any suspicion of a threat to school safety and their commitment to report that to the proper officials. We also continue to express gratitude to our area law enforcement agencies, both our Ascension Parish Sheriff's Department and Gonzales Police Department, for keeping our schools a high priority each day.

On a similar note, we are aware of the national movement to encourage students to walk out of school on March 14th at 10:00 a.m. to bring attention to school safety and security as well as to remember and honor the lives lost in school violence. We want to honor our daily commitment to you as parents to ensure that quality educational experiences that align to progress toward year-end goals are protected. As such, please join us in encouraging your child to cooperate with their principals and teachers to ensure safety, order, and educational goals are not compromised on March 14th as well as any day while at school. We are confident that, with your help and support, our students will continue to have good memories of their K-12 educational experiences. Of course, as their parent, if you would like for your child to express their position on these issues in ways that don't align with our priorities for safety, order, and quality educational experiences, certainly feel free to exercise your right and privilege to check them out of school as you support them in other activities. Student absences, check outs and behavior on March 14th will be handled as they are any other day of the school year. Absences will be coded appropriately as per our attendance policies and practices, and behavior will be handled per our Student Handbook of Rights, Responsibilities and Discipline Policy. We continue to be so very grateful to serve as educators in a community that has such a high value for its schools. We look forward to the days, weeks, months, and even years ahead in working together to teach our children to contribute and live successfully in their communities now and as adults. Respectfully, David Alexander Superintendent Ascension Public Schools www.apsb.org Ascension Parish School District would like to continue connecting with you via email. If you prefer to be removed from our list, please contact Ascension Parish School District dire

Pretty much. I don’t rumors on a message board can be as bad or worse than high school rumors.

A) Not beat, just spank
B) Not for having an opinion that disagrees with mine... that's fine. For cutting class. That's not fine.
