And again, the city does not own the Cajundome: It was built by the State, funded/maintained by the City, and is owned by the University. It is managed by the Cajundome Commission, of which UL has the majority members....

Lol: uh, the many state tax payers of this state that spent millions of dollars to support and build your programs, only to have fans now act like it never happened. And that now want to deny other schools from doing the very same thing they did for many many decades. Maybe those folks.

With 0.000001% chance that the return on investment will have the same outcome.

No other program will be cutting 15 million dollar checks back to them, kind of the point here. The small programs will almost always need state funding. LSU got built into a machine the state actually has benefited from for a long time now. Meanwhile you want to live in decades ago like that's what matters now. The state funds (public) schools because it HAS to, but only 1 school is giving back, and a lot.

You didn't mean to, but you answered my question. And you have zero credibility as to the ability to predict what will or will not happen in the future.

A person can attend a ULL home football game for $6.00. My son's high school charges $7.00.

It’s complete bullshite and LSU is the one backing it.

Serious question: When was the last time it was discussed by the legislature and who was opposed to it (not institutionally, I mean the individual legislators)?

Cajun field resembles somewhat of a high school field

Last attempt was a year ago, but was squashed before it made it to the floor and there isn't enough coverage to get an actual list of names of who squashed it. The only reason I know is because LA Tech was the school backing the effort.

One of the downfalls of not a ton of actual media coverage in Louisiana, makes it really hard to get an actual gauge of what is going on in Baton Rouge.

But as school budgets continue to shrink, athletic programs are going to feel the pressure more and more in this state.

No problem

It's also not a cut and dry "We don't allow student fees"

It's how much of your operating budget can go towards athletics and that includes student fees (3% currently in LA). So basically schools can add student fees but as soon as the athletic budget tops 3 percent of the overall operating budget they can't put any more towards atheltics

Which essentially makes it worthless for universities to attempt to go after student fees because most already sit around that 3% mark with state funds.

Some schools have found ways around it and basically packaged athletic facilities with other "campus improvement" projects so that money goes towards infrastructure and not athletics.

Not total correct. The city of Lafayette puts a lot of money into the Cajun dome yearly. And thanks for finally admitting that the state built the arena you call the Cajun dome.

OMG like its LSU fault you can't support your own athletic program? Besides UL doesn't even meet NCAA requirements for woman's sports participation and you don't meet requirements for attendance for your home football games. JS

If we lose to UL in baseball and basketball I'm going to be pretty embarrassed.
