I used to play all the time at el dorado shreveport, 2009ish
Had a buddy sit down at the table i had been at for about an hour. He said "hoky crap- didnt i see you on espn!?!"
I denied it. He swore he did.
I bluffed almost every hand and people were folding left and right.
Oh good times. By far most i ever made in a night, about 5K.

Not what I was thinking....

I paid my bills in college by feasting off of idiots at the poker table.
I play almost daily, but on free sites. I dont care for playing for money on sites, and its too much of a hassle anyway these days. If I lived closer to a good casino I certainly would spend too much time there playing.

I could tell you pretty much all you want to know. It’s a lot more difficult than you probably think and it’s not a glamorous style of living, you have to be willing to grind

Being a ful time poker player will lead to depression, at best. Poker is best a hobby where you can maybe make a little side income but your focus is mainly on just enjoying playing. The variance is way too high for it to be a stable source of income, no matter how good you are.

Any true pro grinds out an incredible amount of hands and has learned to not tilt. Most pay their bills from rakeback, knowing if they play a certain amount hands in a month at a given level, they will get X amount from rakeback. This is a must given the variance.

It's how I afforded many things in College. Played small limit cash games 4 nights or so per week.

I had dreams of playing on a semi-professional basis before Black Friday.
Man that was so much fun when Full Tilt and Pokerstars were going full steam ahead.

I tried it once, but busted out at KGB's place. I ended up driving Joey Kanish's truck to pay my way through law school

had some old guy sit next to me last year who smelled like he hadn't showered in 3 months and hadn't brushed his teeth in twice that long. kept asking me about the $49 room rates and i could tell he was one of those sad guys who travels the country to scrape out $30-50k/year (that i'm sure he doesn't claim as income)

A kid from my high school makes about $250k a year playing professional poker. He won a couple $1m tourneys a few years back and just plays in tournaments every other month or so.
He was a douche in high school and still appears to be one based on his Facebook but I wouldn’t mind trading lifestyles and am jealous he found success like he did for doing so little.

I don't know any but it looks like a terrible game to be a pro in.
