Should they attend his funeral and why?
There are very, very few if any Americans that had such a huge impact on the Presidency that wasn't President himself like Billy Graham.
Of course they should attend.

Just FYI.
Came here to post that. It's sad it didn't even make it into the thread until Page 2.
Sometimes this place can be like my Facebook feed

W not going is a fricking disgrace.
Shouldn't be surprising. Jesus preached about peace and love. Neocons like Bush worship war.

Why the sarcastic response?
I was always taught, before giving your personal opinion, ask yourself three questions: Is what you're about to say necessary? Is it the truth? Is it uplifting? If you cant answer yes to these questions, just keep your mouth shut, because you're going to gossip, lie or demean someone's character.
Sadly, some people just lack common decency and courtesy.
It doesn't cost anything to be nice to people.

well then, since you said it that way i have to ask, how many dead presidents will be there?

Billy and Franklin Graham spent their careers trying to concert Jewish people. No respect for any one else’s religion. Man of faith? Close minded bigots

Actually that makes it even worse. Talk about taking the easy way out to avoid being in the same room as Trump.
Trump at least with his gigantic entourage is making the effort to go today.

How do you people come up with this nonsense?

The mission of every faith is to proselytize. Methinks you wouldn't be criticizing an Imam who did the exact same thing to Jews and Christians as intolerant.

quote:I think you're overweighting his actual influence on the presidency itself a bit. He was influential, but I think the influence was more similar to a Union Leader where you have to pander and appease him to get his blessing as a gatekeeper to his masses.
There are very, very few if any Americans that had such a huge impact on the Presidency that wasn't President himself like Billy Graham.
Of course they should attend.
In addition, I think you're overestimating his influence in general since you're closer to epicenter of his following. In other parts of the country where there aren't near as many evangelicals, I don't think he had much influence, if any at all. I can't think of one time I've ever heard Graham's name mentioned in a conversation, in religion classes (although catholic), or just anywhere in person.
So to me, Billy Graham was an important figure but NOT THAT important that presidents should he expected to attend his funeral regardless of their relationship.

Talk about taking the easy way out
quote:So they avoided they paid their respects, avoided the publicity hoopla, and now that you know this, you’re criticizing them again and it must be because they wanted to avoid Trump?
to avoid being in the same room as Trump.
quote:If it's about paying respect, then who cares how someone does it? You seem more caught up in am appearance of something not the actuality of it, just like the prog filth.
