Wilmington, DE is weird.
Downtown is packed until between 5 and 6pm. Around 6 the last buses leave and the downtown area becomes a ghost town.

Miami 450,000
Orlando 275,000
Their metros are both huge but the cities porpers are a lot smaller than people realize.

As much as I have heard about Asheville, NC, I thought it would be a pretty populated city... It wasn't till I went there that I realized it's not even half the size of Baton Rouge. Only like 85k or something like that.

Philadelphia is smaller in size (not #) than I always imagined it to be.

To be fair all US cities started to decline in 1960. Dat white flight.

Slc metro is like 95% of the whole states population.

Was going to post this, and Atlanta. Hard to imagine Memphis city proper is larger than both.

Measuring size by city limit population is pointless really. So much variance in how that can be divided.
Metro size is what counts.

Going by “downtown size,” Phoenix is surprisingly small. So much land out there that there is no reason to build up.

As a kid I thought New Orleans was huge. Like one of the biggest cities in the country.
A lot of people that live there have that attitude.
New Orleans metro is roughly the size of Louisville or Buffalo.
In reality it's smaller than even these metro areas:
Columbus, OH
Sacramento, CA
Providence, RI
Austin, TX
Oklahoma City, OK
Memphis, TN
Richmond, VA
