Is COX the only "good" internet provider in New Orleans?

We've had ATT U-verse Internet for the last couple years, which is/has been garbage. Despite promises of fiber coming to our area for more than a year, we're looking to switch providers.
In researching options, it looks like COX is really the only viable option in NOLA (Gentilly specifically).
Is there anything else?

If you don't have ATT Fiber, then yep, Cox is your best and only other bet.

Get ready if you have kids that watch streaming stuff like Xbox, Netflix, etc
Cox caps their data and bills you when you go over. I called and they blame "net neutrality" as the reason.
LUS justbwired my neighborhood with fiber and my install if March 6th.
I know NO is dufferent...but frick Cox.

I live in Gentilly too and Cox is it. I don't see New Orleans getting fiber ever except maybe some spots uptown and in the CBD so get used to it.

I dunno about the politics of the wiring but my house is wired with Fiber ABOVE ground. So they feasibly can wire it in New Orleans without screwing with the streets and neutral ground, just probably a matter of politics and who needs to be bribed to get it there.

They are not good, but they are the best.

This, plus you can bank on an $8 increase every year.

I thought ATT had already fibered most of the city (in terms of main lines/junctions) just had not gone back through to run the lines in each neighborhood,/to houses yet, etc? Am I wrong on that? Officially I saw we were listed as in progress with some areas completed.

They pulling fiber on my street now. 13th Ward.

When it comes to installing fiber AT&T will run everything almost exactly the same as the copper. If you live in a neighborhood with aerial copper, then the fiber will be aerial and if it's buried the fiber will be buried. The only digging that needs to be done is to get the fiber to the pfp, or distribution box, and from there to the poles if it is an aerial neighborhood. If buried you will see a lot more digging and orange conduit during the install for the neighborhood.

Yea, I watched the guy drop mine from across the street from the same lighting/power pole that Cox and ATT (regular, non fiber) ran their lines from.
I almost cut the "old" ATT and Cox wires off of my house just to only have 1 wire vs. 3 but I figured no one cares except me.

It's been going up steadily regardless of NN. My internet was $45 4-5 years ago. It's $90 now.

Cable companies seem to be using internet to recoup some of their lost TV subscriber base. It sucks.

That's just Capitalism. But yeah it does suck. I imagine once cable essentially goes extinct at that point we'll be paying the same for internet that we used to pay for cable/internet/phone packages. I guess it's less services but the internet at that point will probably be more powerful than it was back in the day.

Go read some articles on the 5g wireless that's supposed to be starting in 2019 and ramping up big time by 2020. I see the vision of ATT and Tmobile and Verizon and it's simply to END the cable companies.
Imagine Google Wifi like pucks sitting in your house beaming you special T-Mobile 5g speeds at 300 mbps for an extra fee to your cable bill. It may not be cheaper, at first, but I see cable companies DYING within the next 5 years.
ETA: Tmobile clearly has this vision as they have already announced their version of TV service. ATT already has it and Verizon already has a contract with the NFL. You can see it happening, their just waiting on their 5g rollout and then the phone industry to produce 5g phones and the consumers to buy them all up over the next 1-3 years.
