re: Bug ID needed - BottleGnome on 6/9/21 at 10:18 pm
Thanks for the ID. I thought that maybe that's what it could be after some googling, just wanted to make sure. Looks like I'll have to spray them as they are a threat to my tomato plants....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Lowe's To Launch New Cordless Power Tool Innovation For Pros - BottleGnome on 5/26/21 at 7:47 pm

re: Filling holes around foundation - BottleGnome on 5/10/21 at 10:13 pm
Slight highjack. Anyone know how many inches of slab are typically exposed around a house? The land around my house has sunk a good bit over the years and the previous owner never addressed it. I am planning on adding a good bit of fill, I'm just not sure how much slab should be exposed from the top...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: What's the go-to wifi connected thermostat these days? - BottleGnome on 12/21/20 at 5:44 pm
I just received my pre-order the other day. I haven't installed it yet because for now my Nest is working. When the pre-orders started I was on my 3rd Nest as it seemed like they were all having a battery issue which causes the wifi not to work at all. Of course since I pre-ordered the Wyze one my N...

re: What do you think of the new Subaru Ascent? - BottleGnome on 12/20/20 at 9:12 pm
We got ours in May of '19 and love it. We have not had any issues with it all. All of the space has come in handy with 2 little ones and their things. I use my 3rd row a decent amount but most of the time it's folded down so we can have a stroller and other things laying down back there. Haven't had...

re: Lost all of my local channels on directv at my camp. Any ideas? - BottleGnome on 11/2/20 at 5:38 pm
AT&T performed an orbital slot consolidation in 2019 if I remember right. Local and Spanish language programming moved down to 99, 101, or 103. For the last year or so techs have only been able to install Slimline 3 or Reverse band Slimeline 3 lnb's. How sure are you of your dish alignment, have you...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Thermostat help - BottleGnome on 10/11/20 at 3:04 pm
The unit does have a usb port on the back but I think it may be for only charging the battery. When disconnected from the base and plugged into a usb charger you cannot use the thermostat, no functions work and it displays a message that says to connect it to the base to use....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Thermostat help - BottleGnome on 10/11/20 at 2:29 pm
I do have a C wire connected. When we installed the thermostat we ran a brand new line to the board so that we would have a C wire. If I remember correctly the original line only had 4 wires. It's weird that this happening because the original thermostat worked fine for over a year and now all of th...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Thermostat help - BottleGnome on 10/11/20 at 1:15 pm
Currently all power readings on the thermostat are within the recommended ranges provided by Nest. I'll have to check the wires on the unit itself to make sure all of the connections are good. If that's all good then it would seem like the board on the ac unit could be the source of the problem. I'm...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
Thermostat help - BottleGnome on 10/11/20 at 12:44 pm
I have gone through 3 (about to be 4) different Nest thermostats over the last 4 months. All 4 started having issues with the wifi not working which basically turns it into a regular thermostat. It appears that the wifi chip in the thermostat gets zapped as the unit is no longer able to recognize an...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (3)

re: Oak tree issues - BottleGnome on 7/23/20 at 8:41 pm
I'm definitely going to do that. A few branches no big deal, but the whole tree falling will definitely have the house within it's range. I am pretty sure it's a water oak, can anyone confirm with this picture of the leaves? [link=(https://imgur.com/gallery/uY2BtjV)]Oak leaves[/link] ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2)
Oak tree issues - BottleGnome on 7/21/20 at 5:53 pm
I have a large oak tree, about 50-60' tall in the center of my back yard. The tree regularly looses small branches with leaves and occasionally branches and chunks of branches that are about 2-3' long and 3-4" in diameter fall. The other day 2 large branches around 10' long fell. I took some picture...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (4)
re: Are Smart Home Gadgets worth it & What do you love - BottleGnome on 7/4/20 at 7:45 am
I currently have a Nest, Google Home Mini, Echo Dot, Lutron Caseta switch and 2 Shelly 1's. I put one of the Shelly's in the hall bathroom because I got tired of my 4 year old always asking me to turn on the light so now she can do it from an app or my wife and I can do it for her from any room in t...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: No see um control - BottleGnome on 5/23/20 at 6:30 am
I also use Bifen, although it's the water based IT version since I can use it indoors as well as outdoors. I should probably be more consistent with my spraying but as soon as I feel them start to bite I spray the yard and the no see ums are no longer a problem....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
