Why not just ban automatic rifles?

I realize they are already banned for the most part.
But the lefty's don't. They keep calling for the banning of automatic weapons every chance they get.
Just ban them again and maybe they will shut up.

Ban automatic rifles and bump stocks.
I don't know how military grade machine guns keep getting into cilivian hands, who then wreak havoc like we saw in Florida this week and in Las Vegas 4 months ago. It's sickening and the "solutions" proposed by the gun nuts on the Far Right are just crazy-giving concealed weapons training and permits to teachers and principals, for example.

Very few people qualify to own automatic weapons and as of today not one of them that are legally owned has been used in criminal activity.
A ban on semi-automatic weapons would lead to war.
What the left doesn't know is that the popularity of the AR platform has lead to so many derivatives that establishing a ban on "assault rifles" and/or AR 15s" is virtually impossible.
