What is the implication exactly?

quote:

However, I’m sure it’s definitely more environmental than genetics.

I will never be Roger Federer no matter how much practice time I put in. To think this concept doesn’t apply to intelligence, drive, conscientiousness, etc. is wrong.

Now, research suggests that the brain is more malleable than other physical attributes and can adapt and “rewire” itself based on environmental pressures, but it is still confined to its genetic, inheritable limitations.

I’m sure good genes help. I’m more of the mind that success in life is a multifaceted. Good genes, supportive family, being around successful role models. Then again some people with the same gene luck turn out to be total shits in life, some kids without the genes turn out great.

A scientific theory can be as close as science will let something get to fact. Gravity is still a theory. Doesn't mean it's not the real deal.

Genes, aka science, requires belief now?

Yes. This board denies and decries science up and down unless it confirms their beliefs. See climate change. In some cases, see evolution.

As someone who was adopted as a baby and has met my birth mother and family, in my case, Nature >>>>>> nurture

There’s a reason every guest on Maury looks alike.

I have average genes apart from height. My SO has superior athletic genes. I’m gonna try to give my kid a leg up by not reproducing with someone inferior.

Obviously some people have superior genetics.

Lebron James has superior athletic genetics to just about everyone in the world.

Someone like Bill Gates has superior intellectual genetics to just above everyone.

I don't know how that is even up for debate.

Exactly. There's a whole budding branch of biomedical research with the underlying idea being gene editing/CRISPR for a reason.

Anyone who says otherwise is purposely being obtuse and trying to turn fact into some "ah-ha/gotcha" proof point about Trump.

All you have to do is look at the African-American athelete. People can be bred for specific genetic traits just like animals.
