if you really want to understand what he's getting at, watch the video in the link.

LINK

quote:

Donald Trump has been accused of believing in the “racehorse theory” of genetics, which claims some people are genetically superior to others.

...

He said: “The family subscribes to a racehorse theory of human development.

quote:

The PBS documentary featured clips of Mr Trump on the campaign trial claiming that he “believes in the gene thing” and saying he had a “very high aptitude”.

quote:

He said: “Well I think I was born with the drive for success because I have a certain gene.

“I'm a gene believer... Hey, when you connect two race horses, you usually end up with a fast horse.

“I had a good gene pool from the standpoint of that, so I was pretty much driven.”

this shouldn’t be called a theory. It’s a fact

Genes, aka science, requires belief now?

Of course some people have superior genetics. I don't see how that's controversial

While I am very, very glad Trump defeated Hillary Clinton, he was born on third base but thinks he hit a triple.

I believe in the gene thing.

I don't know if genetics give one person more drive over another though. I think a lot of that is learned.

This is only “news” because Trump said it. You’d have to be a blind fool to not believe in the roll genetics play.

I think it's pretty well established that the Asians got most of the good genes.

He isn’t wrong. Genetics has at least something to do with the baseline.

It’s nature+nurture.

The thing about genetics is that some genes are better suited for certain environments. You can't really evaluate "superiority" of genes without considering environmental context.

Consider sickle cell with and without context of not getting killed by malaria, it becomes advantageous or deleterious.

He has also supposedly been quoted as saying that he wanted to have at least 5 children so that he would at least have one who was like him. He had a contract with his first wife, Ivanna, that she would receive bonuses for having children. I think everyone knows that his Golden Child is Ivanka.

Many people born on 3rd base frick up and get picked off or caught in a rundown. Trump stole home. He’s the damn POTUS.

The issue is the idea of someone thinking that they understand the role of how genetics interacts with environment and expanding that overconfidence in understanding into eugenics which is frequently associated with racism and all that good stuff. Using it the way that Trump's language suggests is a rhetorical tool to support racism and to prop up his own ego.

Not if you have any moral ethos about you at all. Stating a fact does not imply subsequent utility of said fact.

I believe it definitely gives you an advantage just as being born to people with health issues increases your chances of dealing with the same health problems.

However, I’m sure it’s definitely more environmental than genetics.

His implication is clear. My "moral ethos" has nothing to do with it.
