I enjoyed it.
It does get a little heavy handed with its political message, but you kind of know that going in based on the comics.
I personally thought the soundtrack was amazing. I think the mashup of tribal and hip hop fit the movie very well.

Yeah that made no sense to me at all. He has a line in the beginning about refugees bringing problems yet he's totally cool with following a outsider he just met

It's a decent film with some really bad CGI. Would you agree?
That’s fair. It’s not nearly as good as the critics claim. But not nearly as bad as the red neck racists are saying either.

This was covered in the movie itself. Wakandans mind their own business and tend to their own affairs. This changed during the summit in the mid-credits scene. It was a central theme of the movie, so I’m surprised that you missed it. They didn’t explicitly mention Ultron or anything else, but their lack of involvement made complete sense.
Of course I did not miss that which goes back to my comment about the movie contradicting itself. I guess for Wakandan’s it is cool to mind your own business while the Earth (and subsequently Wakanda) is on the brink of destruction. Yet when one of your own is going to threaten the world on a smaller scale go ahead and implode your civilization stopping him.

Yeah they didn't really reveal any particular reason why he turned bad and thats after they clearly showed him to be an ally to T'Challa and even a close confidant. What motive would he have for turning? They should have given him a motivation earlier in the movie when they introduced his character but there was none. Then his "fight" with his gf was pretty weak. Felt no intensity between the two.

Where would it rank against other MCU movies
In the top half. Might crack the top third. Maybe. Was definitely better than he first 2 Thor movies, the last 2 Iron Man movies, Dr Strange and Age of Ultron.

Frankly, the first act was way way too long. They spent too much time establishing things that didn't need to be established.
Yep, but I still felt like that was rushed...like they didn't expound enough on it. But then again it was hard to care about the characters in the end anyways.

It picked up after it fell into the Marvel action formula but by then they had lost me on whether or not I actually cared about the characters.
This is it. Disney probably gave the director little creative freedom and it created a story void of emotion. The last few marvel movies have been pretty stale for me. They are trying to be too funny and aren't reaching into the emotion well very much at all which I think should be a hallmark of these movies when it comes down to it.

Yeah you have a point there.

No way.

That's insanity.

Michael B. Jordan stole the show.
Didn't see this at all. He had more range of emotion as Wallace on the Wire than he did in this movie. I didn't really understand his motives and the cliche "special ops military trained vet gone bad" was really really really stupid IMO.
I thought Chadwick Boseman was easily the best actor in the movie.

I thought it was good, but wouldn't put it at the top for Marvel. The segway between second and third act was much too fast, I thought it needed a good 30 minute window to show a rising internal tension with Wakandas supporting/rejecting the new ruler.
I also did not find the Killmonger villain to be anything special. He needed more exposition to help develop his character, I feel like we didn't get nearly enough of him on-screen.
Yep. Killmonger was pretty vanilla and basically hit the minimum of marvel villains. I just didn't feel like he raised the stakes at all.

You don't think his dad getting killed by BP's dad was a good enough motive?
Just got home. If it weren't for the crappy CGI this would be a top 5 Marvel film. It was shocking how bad it was in parts.

Solidly in the upper tier of Marvel films, probably right around Cap 1, but below GotG, WS, Ragnarok, IM and Avengers
I would agree. T'challa is great and should be a leader of the MCU.
And for all the political nonsense revolving around this movie, T'Challa's final message denounces division, and in the context of the movie, it is specifically denouncing obsession over slavery and a feeling that revenge is needed against past oppressors.

They didn't really flesh that out very much. They never really built up his anger or rage. They just kind of jumped to him in the present and I never really felt like he was that angry about it.

Not even close. I think its maybe better than the Thor movies, but thats all I'm willing to give.

On the subject of vibranium in Wakanda, was it ever explained how Howard Stark got the supply to make Cap's shield?

He stole it because white people stole everything from black people. Damn colonizers.
I think he just obtained it through Stark Industries.

I really wish Andy Serkis would do more live action stuff.
They didn't really have many other routes they could've taken, but it sucks Killmonger is dead. Michael B. Jordan was awesome. They finally created an interesting/grounded villain and he's gone.
Overall, I thought it was good. It really didn't feel like a Marvel movie to me for large parts. It was definitely different and fresh. I feel like I need to see it again to say where I'd rank it.

Klaue killed both of his parents when he stole the vibranium.
