All we need are bolt-actions and revolvers, imo. Bolt-action is good for hunting and revolvers are good enough for self-defense.

No they're not.
The "middle ground" was struck with the banning of automatic weapons, explosives, etc.
And I'd argue that's way beyond "middle ground."

I also find it ironic that often (not accusing the OP) but gun banners say "no one needs a semiautomatic" also say "you can't defend yourself against the Army".

Let's be serious for a minute. Noone is going to come get our guns. There are more guns than their are people in this country. I would not give up my guns. Not ever and I'm not even an extreme gun advocate.
There is no answer to these disgusting acts. Without guns, evil people would still find a way to cause mass casualties if they want to. Pretending that confiscating guns would stop violence is either naive or really dumb.

Are we going to police the manufacturing of only bolt action rifles and revolvers in all other countries in the world?
We can’t keep people from crossing our boarders, how are we going to keep unwanted guns out?
More food for thought, illicit drug usage and possession is illegal in the US. Has that stopped production, sales, and use of said illicit drugs?
