What if states pay for the college education? Does that make it for everybody? Is it just a money thing?

If it's not just a money thing, then any level of education may not be for everyone.

Explains why you or the op couldn't get into one.

Your theory is like the shite Timmy shovels

Your anecdotal case does not negate the general premise suggested in the OP. There are many factors other than GPA including your situation. And I would add that your specialty, Finance, is a specific profession unlike too many degrees in more general studies like English, History, etc. for which are not associated with specific jobs.

So who decides who's College material, you?

If you understand the OPs point, then it's obvious that the market has already decided this (huge student loan debts coupled with low paying jobs that require no college education); however, society still pressures 'everyone must go to college.'

My GPA was terrible coming out of High School due to me being more interested in Weed, Girls, Sports. If I were Timmy I'd be shoveling shite today Instead I hold a BS in Finance along with many other certificates and license, I sit here in a climate controlled atmosphere F'ing around on a computer all day and get paid.

So you basically got a general studies degree so you can sit inside with the women and goof off

Maybe it is a good thing you didn't go to trade school, the trades are for us strong baws that wanna benefit society

How many trade jobs are there that are high 5 figure to 6 figure salaries?

Not just plumbers or mechanics? I'm not shitting on the thread, honestly asking.

College is eating itself and pricing itself out of existence.

I live next to a diesel mechanic and a aircraft mechanic. They're doing fine.

Too late. We have way too many online, directional, junior, and community colleges.

Apparently your degree didn't include reading comprehension: BS Finance is not general studies

Um. My daughter attends a large public HS in Louisiana. This is a top 10 pub school(non magnet) and has all walks of life.
Their orientation was absolutely outstanding and a bit shocking to me.
The principal went on about various programs and spent a good bit of time on how college isn't for every kid and how TOPS now will fund votec paths.
They make kids, by junior year, either choose 4 yr path or opt for the votec/cc path. They can also work towards a carpentry cert, auto mechanic ASE, and also become and EMT basic all by graduation. That was impressive as hell.

These kids would be also be encouraged to complete votec training at a place such as River Parishes CC or BRCC if necessary to get like EMT-Paramedic, PTec or Welding certs to make more money and such.

I was taken aback at first, but then looking at the 450 incoming freshman and their parents, a good half of them won't finish 4yr college anyhow.

This is a GREAT new approach that really isn't new. The principal explained that this USED to be how it was done in the 70s but was phased out by some "no child left behind" bullshite philosophy that every kid DESERVED a 4 yr degree.

He went as far as saying that "some kids will graduate and go straight to being a car mechanic making $20/hr and that's GREAT to provide for his/her family. And some of you will go on to LSU/Tulane and then medical school and become doctors."

Loved it.

TLDR some schools are taking proactive steps to accept that fact and to steer some kids towards careers after hs instead of college.

Plumbing

I paid 2K about a month ago to have a new pipe ran in my yard that had ruptured. He spent 7 hours working in total. 2K in a day and he wasn't even done working for said day.

Right. It's society's fault. Has nothing to do with the fact that some people want jobs that won't work them to death

Right nothing is free.

To society as a whole.

Obviously individuals do get free educations, based on gpa and/or testing or economics of family.
