Why should people choose what handouts they get from the government? Beggars can’t be choosers people.

Inhumane, unhealthy, cronyism for Packaging and suppliers, cruel, etc.
They hate it so much

It’s “restricting the nutritional freedom of the indigent.”
(not my words)

It kills me how welfare recipients think they’re entitled to eat as well (if not better) than the people actually paying for their meal.
I don’t think we should just scrap welfare entirely at this point in time but the system we have now encourages people not to work.

It may be costlier in the long run since private sector logistic chains are more efficient.
Why not just pass a law restricting EBT purchases to non-crappy foods.
No soda ,no cookies, no candy

That may end up being the case; a cost analysis will tell the tale.
But this kind of creative thinking (e.g., “America’s Harvest Box”) is one of the reasons Trump was elected.
Business as usual is what’s kept the country from moving forward.

I prefer to call it “common sense” thinking

It just seems more costly, easier to frick up, would probably provide in the end higher costing, lower quality meals.
That's because the government is involved.

Idk how much an EBT is worth monthly but let’s say it’s $500. Assuming all the kinks can be worked out and costs aren’t more, What’s wrong with giving them $200 worth of staples twice per month and reducing the card to $100? So instead of them being able to buy $500 worth of bullshite, they can only buy $100.
Personally, I don’t give a shite as long as the $500 doesn’t go up. If u wanna spend it on twinkies & coke, knock yourself out. I don’t think this proposal is gonna have any affect on obesity rates like some are suggesting. That’s just silliness
I do wanna figure out how motherfrickers are driving $50k SUVs and have EBT cards though. That shite pisses me off lol

What???
It may be costlier - not a word???
It may cost more money to ship people food then a piece of plastic?
I see limitless potential in this program. Local growers helping people out with local fresh food. USPS not Neumening it ...
Or we can run the alternative - here’s 90$ go buy all the frozen pizza’s, Hungry Mans ya can. Once a month say eff it and do crab legs - rice and beans. Get Fatter and less employable.
Here’s a thought I give you bread, peanut butter, pasta, and a protein. You learn to cook. Hipsters forage the 5th food group.
45$ Less in MS13 hands from perjured cards

I would agree if you only knew where the dollar sign ($) went.

For some because they’ll have no choice but to actually get food from the program

This is how much basically a mother with 2 kids and no job gets.
A single mother with a job gets like $187

Maybe they are concerned that the contract for supplying the food will go to one of those two-employee LLCs like the ones that got the power line job in Puerto Rico or the FEMA contract that was supposed to deliver 30 million meals and ended up delivering 50,000? ...

Honestly. I oppose it
It's simpler and almost certainly cheaper to just restrict purchases

Because people on food stamps are not beggars and shouldn’t be treated as beggars.
