Pointless tournament.
Maybe for an already-established program used to making it to and competing in the NCAAT. For a team like LSU fighting to get back on the map and establish and maintain notoriety, making the NIT, and especially advancing far, would be pretty big.

The NIT has been around longer than the NCAA tourney and used to be the most prestigious post season tourney, it wasn’t started to crown the 69th or 36th or whatever dumb shite you posted. Try to educate yourself instead of posting ignorant shite.

Sure, like 60-70 years ago. It was far more relevant than now before the NCAAT got as huge as it is now, but it hasn't really been the big showcase of college basketball since like the 40s.

Apparently so, there have been some pretty bad nit teams over the years

WW has done a good job but let's face it, this team isn't great and when they play a physical, strong defensive team we struggle. Need this incoming recruiting class and WW can instill the physicality and mental toughness needed to compete for titles. Nothing against the players we have now but they are just not physical enough.

I know that but you’ve missed the entire point. That guy was talking like the NIT was created as a consolation tourney to crown the 69th ranked team which is totally false.

What would you rather have as a basketball fan
1st round loss in NCAA or NIT champs??
*disclaimer- not saying LSU will do either

This team is a work in progress and while there has been better disciplines instilled by Will Wade, I don’t think many people expected them to be a force this year in the SEC. However, next year the expectations will be there to earn a bit to the NIT or NCAA tournament.

This team is clearly an NIT caliber team idiot. They have 6 wins over teams who will definitely be in the dance. Only a handful of teams can say that, and all of them will be in March Madness.

Probably more the 2nd than the first seeing as they seem poised for an nit bid this year

If Arkansas and Texas A&M are NCAA Ty teams, then LSU should be an NIT team.
Saturday's game versus Surging Mizzou is very important to LSU if we are to make the NIT. We need to beat Mizzou then win most of our remaining games. NO GAME REMAINING IS A CINCH FOR US THIS YEAR.
If we can go 4-1 in our last 5, we are definitely in the NIT. 3-2 is iffy. 2-3 or worse is a no go.

NCAA first round loss because it gives you that benefit of the doubt with the selection committee moving forward for future seasons. If you make the tourney one year it lifts your profile for the season after.

I just want to feel like we could at least compete....we can't as of now. Maybe next year.

Since I was called out on it, I did look up the definition. Admittedly, the use of “objectively” was not proper and I edited the title accordingly.
Make the NIT, don’t make the NIT, whatever. In my opinion which I know doesn’t mean shite, this club has glaring deficiencies and, at this point, doesn’t play like a team worthy of post season.

at having to go 4-1 to make sure we're in... Not a chance the bar is that high
