What's more important: Career you enjoy but low pay, or career you don't but good pay?

Which do you choose: Time with family is about a wash. Freedom is about a wash. First is a 9-5 Mon-Fri and Second is shiftwork.
Career you like, in a field you like for 45-60k average
or
Career you know you won't enjoy but pay is 75-90k average.
ETA: I guess I should clarify. The second job is about 1.5 years of school away (which i'm going for now). The first is one I qualify for now, and have been offered.

There should always be a happy medium

Happy medium though lean towards pay. Life outside of work is what I live for

You can’t buy back years of your life. Yes money is important and nice to have, but it isn’t everything. Don’t make yourself miserable

I've been in both situations. I'd rather have a fulfilling job than money for its own sake at this point. Thankfully, I do.

My dream job would to work at the US Mint.
Regardless of how much I got actually paid I could always say I made a lot of money at work.

I took a career I love over a career I hated for more money, but I also have more free time, less stress, and less taxing physically.

Whichever has better hours so that you can actually use the money you earn.

I’d take a 60k job that I loved over a 75k job that I hated
However, I’ll take the money since you said this.
The jobs that I’ve hated tended to be because they had no respect for my time.

One of my brothers works seasonal outdoor jobs year-round. He probably never clears more than 40 or 45k a year, but he's probably the happiest and most content person I know.

Neither of those are good pay

An extra $15k isn’t worth doing a job I hate. It would have to be more significant than $60k vs $75k.

This, i gave up 15ish K, to take the job i have now. less pay, but i'm home by 7am(work 2 1/2 hours, paid for 8), 2 days a week, and get 17 weeks off, paid a year(every 3rd year i get 18 weeks off).
Also, work 5 days a week, and NO Weekends.
And i have ZERO regrets

I will keep my job I have now. Have more perks than the perks of both of those situations combined.

Think about it this way...
A person from the year 1900 would look at the life of an American in 2018 making 55k a year vs. an American making 80k a year and see essentially no difference in quality of life. Both would be off the charts good.
Don't punt your happiness for a few bucks that won't change your standard of living that much in the grand scheme of things.

Providing you are enjoying them, take the experiences, knowledge and wisdom first.
The money will soon follow.

Agreed. Now doing something for your family and supporting others can create a different dynamic. If you're single, then this is a no brainer IMO.

This saddens me greatly.

Money while I’m young, enjoy it when I’m older.
