For Episcopalians, God is Officially Gender Fluid (or whatever)

So the Episcopal Church is no longer going to refer to God as any gender in the revised Book of Common Prayer. And any gender (the fact that they officially recognize more than 2 is preposterous) is welcome into the Priesthood. Keep in mind, if you weren't confirmed when you were 13 you still can't become a priest. Priorities.

As a life long Episcopalian, I've put up with a lot of crap in the past 10-15 years; but this might be it for me.

Tucker had a Bishop on last night - Episcopal church members have decreased by half in the last 30 years and they just keep doubling down on the political BS.

quote:

The resolution to stop using "gendered language for God" was passed quickly by delegates to the Diocese's 123rd Convention. “If revision of the Book of Common Prayer is authorized, to utilize expansive language for God from the rich sources of feminine, masculine, and non-binary imagery for God found in Scripture and tradition and, when possible, to avoid the use of gendered pronouns for God,” the resolution stated. “Over the centuries our language and our understanding of God has continued to change and adapt,” the drafters of the resolution stated. The drafters said that referring to God using masculine pronouns is to "limit our understanding of God." "By expanding our language for God, we will expand our image of God and the nature of God," they stated. But Clergy delegate The Rev. Linda R. Calkins from St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Laytonsville, Maryland, challenged the delegates to go further. Calkins read from Genesis Chapter 17, in which God tells Abraham “I am El Shaddai.” She said that if Episcopalians "are going to be true to what El Shaddai means, it means God with breasts.” “Having studied much feminist theology in my masters’ degrees, I wrote a thesis on liberation and freedom and non-equality in feminist theology and existential counseling,” Calkins told the delegates, as reported by The Institute On Religion & Democracy. “And I am still waiting for the Episcopal Church to come to the place where all people feel that they can speak God’s name. Many, many women that I have spoken with over my past almost 20 years in ordained ministry have felt that they could not be a part of any church because of the male image of God that is systemic and that is sustained throughout our liturgies. Many of us are waiting and need to hear God in our language, in our words and in our pronouns,” she added. Christians, following the teachings of Jesus Christ, have prayed to God as "Our Father" from the very beginning. Theologians explain that the masculine word “Father” indicates a relationship.

There is most of the BS in case you don't want t to click the link.

The divisions and categories of being a christian are stupid anyways. Theres no one "correct" way to follow God. My statement has nothing to do with your thread though.

I watched that last night. Tucker was doing everything he could to not be mean to a man of the cloth, but shite that guy looked dumb.

That church, which I think is rather sizable, is down to only 75 parishioners. This is the same church with the "Faithpalm" signs they put outside. Church should never be political. I'd walk out mid-sermon if someone tried pushing this crap on me and wouldn't feel the least bit bad about it.

There may not be one "correct" way to follow God, but there are a whole lot of "incorrect" ways.

They've thrown out the Bible as the standard of life and faith a long time ago. This doesn't surprise me.

We need another Reformation in the Church.

Yeah, there are. I was referring to peole who are baptists for example believing they're the only ones doing it right. Thats just asinine and every denomination has people that think like that.

As a half arse Episcopalian, I am going to boycott the church over this news. It will give me a legitimate excuse for my retroactive boycott I have been conducting for the past several years.

The Episcopal church has been ignoring so much bible in order to push their leftist agenda, I honesty don't know why they even bother with it.

Kids aren't taught the Bible during Sunday School or Vacation Church School - they don't even bother calling it Vacation Bible School anymore.

Thankfully my kids fell into a youth group at a Methodist church so they actually learned about Jesus. You rarely hear about Jesus in an Episcopal homily anymore.

Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.

I don’t mind at all. I’ll start At the beginning of the chapter.

quote:

14 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions;[a] if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.[b] 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

The Father Revealed

7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” 8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves
