quote:

“There is a Russia investigation without a dossier. So to the extent the memo deals with the dossier and the FISA process, the dossier has nothing to do with the meeting at Trump Tower. The dossier has nothing to do with an email sent by Cambridge Analytica. The dossier really has nothing to do with George Papadopoulos’ meeting in Great Britain. It also doesn’t have anything to do with obstruction of justice. So there’s going to be a Russia probe, even without a dossier.”

So....

1. He confirms that the dossier had no impact on the start of the Russia probe so that talking point is now officially dead.

2.Trey Gowdy just laid out all of the main points of investigation and their worthiness of investigation.

3. Everyone who called the main stream media stories about Papadopoulos, Cambridge Analytica, and obstruction of justice being fake news... Well you just look silly.

That's a duty-bound CYA by Gowdy. He's always on the straight and narrow. He knows in his heart that it really does have an impact - and he smiles about it when he gets home.

I think everyone understands that the “probe” (whatever that means, I find it odd he didn’t say investigation but I digress) must reach its normal conclusion otherwise this country might be torn it two.

I look forward to the full interview as I am curious to hear his complete thoughts on the matter.

Gowdy is correct but that in no way invalidates the seriousness of the FISA scandal and corruption of the DNC and major agency heads under the Obama administration.

Nor does it confirm anything nefarious with the Trump campaign.

He's basically saying the two aren't related outside of a credibility problem with the DNC.

And it’s appearing likely that the entire IC and has committed atrocities against U.S. citizens. Bigger things than Russia.

Trump is in the clear, but by all means please continue the impeachment fantasy in your head.

Again, the main issue is more systemic than political or criminal (although there may be charges eventually). The issue is the merits and even constitutionality of the entire FISA application process and the opportunity for abuse of power (which Congress should address). FISA seems ripe for abuse, whether we find nefarious behavior here or not. The hyperbolic political environment makes things harder to figure out for certain on that front.

The issue is more Rand Paul than Devin Nunes.

You understand that this memo is about something far more serous???

The memo is about the abuse of government power for political purposes? The abuse of government power to spy on an American citizen?

Gowdy is right and you miss the big issue.

Mmmm huh...I'm sure that the FISA Warrant App won't include the Steele Dossier.
