This class will be decided on Chase and Surtain. We should get them both I would be happy but if we lose Surtain this class will be a disappointment overall.

The way I understand it also.
Bama taking Smith has nothing to do with Surtain. The plan was to take 2 more with Smith, Surtain and Isaac Taylor Stuart the top candidates. Who knows maybe Bama is the one left in the cold this time but I think that pull ITS. Jeff Banks hiring was major for that

According to the article, Chase looks promising as well.

It would be great to see Surtain and Chase at LSU and Ross with Clemson.

Rivals recent podcast was discussing the atmosphere UGa is build, how Clemson is like a family (not much attrition, besides QBs this year), and how a lot of player transfer from Alabama.
I really like what Coach O did with the Elite Junior camp this past weekend. Would have been nice to have Thibodeaux, Green, and Emery there as well, but 2019 cycle seems off to great start.

Think Pat Pete, Jalen Ramsey good

What are you guys (& the scouts) basing this on?

I'm going to get downvoted, I'll even down vote myself, but I haven't seen anything close so far, abeit only from a super small sample-size of two partial games and hudl highlights.

I'm fresh off watching every game of two amazing lockdown corners perform this season in the Saints' Lattimore & LSU's Greedy Williams. I know when a WR is smothered and not even an option for the QB. Or have seen dumb QBs throw their way with little success or downright regret.

I watched one PS2 Heritage game and turned it off at halftime bc the basically QB never challenged him and it was unwatchably boring. They threw to his side only once and it was completed for a short gain. Every passing play was designed to the left side or middle, not the right side where he played hat night. Hard to gauge anything off that game.

I watched his highlights and saw a few errant throws and lame duck passes intercepted, but it is mostly filled with spectacular special teams returns that show off his next level athleticism (which can be projected to Pick 6 potential). Still never saw any lockdown highlights.

I just watched a rag-tag US Army game, which is always hard to scout based on the limited practice time together and special rules, but the one and only time they threw at him was for a TD, albeit on a tough route to cover.

I'm not saying he is not the next Jalen Ramsey, I hope he is, but where is footage that convinced you he is? I can't find anything, how did you?. Every scout & recruitnik says he is a lockdown corner, but where is the evidence? Sounds more like the projections/hype are based more on measurables & offers than game tape. I haven't seen anything to convince me he's the next Ed Paris, much less the next Jalen Ramsey.

Please correct this uninformed recruitnik and spread some knowledge my way.

Probably from watching him match up with the best of the best in the camp circuit and all-star practices. That’s where a lot of evaluating is done, especially for a guy like him who is a known commodity that teams scheme away from.

There’s a reason you can’t find much film of opponents throwing to his side of the field bro.......When an opposing team game plans around one of your corners he’s legit.

he told his son don't worry about hurting anyone's feelings and go where you want. Is that good or bad for LSU?

That's bad. I hate to hear that. Sounds like he's Bama bound. shite.

Honestly, I haven't seen the kid play, just hearsay stuff. But I will say that by going off of his old man's history he should be a really good CB, I mean his Pops was a former All Pro with the Miami Dolphins. And so, it would seem he was raised to be a prodigy with his Pops showing him all the ins and outs (fundamentals) on how to be a very good defensive back. If you have that going for you at a very young age, and pair that with the size he has for a cornerback at 6'3 I think he is, translates for a very or should be a very good and gifted young CB. We shall see.

He's been wanting to go to LSU, so how would that be bad??

Well, I sure as hell hope I'm wrong, but it sounds like he's afraid to tell the LSU coaches that he's not coming, since LSU's been the leader all this time, and he's made a sudden decision to go elsewhere. Sweet baby Jesus, please let me be wrong on this! We need him bad, and we definitely don't need him going to Alabama!
