They absolutely refuse to block out the guy closest to them. It’s not that difficult. They have to stop giving them free runs to the rim after shots. It happens so much in every game. I know Wade probably drills them about it everyday but they just don’t get it.

It is unbelievable how bad Epps is at rebounding.

Zero fundamentals.

It’s more mentality than athleticism.

Team just doesn’t have it this year. We are clearly in rebuilding mode even by the basics. Wade can only do so much.

Thank God we’ve got Kavell and three of the top 8 rebounders in high school coming in.

It's helps when you aren't lazy. Auburn is playing 20X harder than LSU.

LSU looks like they quit about 3 minutes into the game

You’re right we just don’t have any rebounders. That’s why I’d like to see us run and shoot more 3s and press or play zone. You have to strategically compensate for all the extra possessions you’re giving the other team and playing straight up man to man won’t do that.

I’m fortunate enough to attend practice when I want to. Blocking out and being aggressive to the ball is harped on over and over again. The biggest drawback is Duop and Epps are very slow afoot. Rebounding is all about positioning and strength and they can’t get there and they’re both weak. The fact that you only have 2 players over 6’6” and they’re deficiencies are obvious spells doom and gloom along w extra shots...... Kir shows flashes but brings nothing to offensive output.....

That may be why they got three of the top rebounders in this coming class

Hopefully that turns it around big time

I don't know how many times an LSU player was closer to the rebound and the opponent just out hustled them to the ball. They just stand there watching the ball come off the rim, flat-footed, reaching instead of moving their feet, it's sad! Wade can preach and teach and do everything a coach can do, he just can play the game for them. They just don't have the attitude to rebound. You got to want the damn ball, you got to move towards it, anticipate, move your damn feet, hustle, get nasty when you grab the ball. LSU players played scared today, out hustled on both ends of the court. Who the hell plays basketball scared?!?! This team needs some toughness, they need some frickin' attitude, they are far too mentally complacent. They need a good shot of Dennis Rodman and less Mary Poppins.

You can thank JJ for those awesome fundamentals and stressing a physical brand of ball. Lol. Rebounding and playing defense is an attitude.

Posted this in a thread other day and got 20 downvotes.

I thought it was pretty obvious.

Pretty much. This has been the consistent problem all along.

One of the first things WW said post-game was, "they had 10 offensive rebounds at half we had 10 total".

You can talk about the game beginning onslaught but that stat reveals more, that when they did finally start missing....and they did, they rebounded it and on the vast majority of those put them back in the basket.

Let's say they put 8 of the 10 back. That's 16 points right there, in one half. Gotta do better.
