Mercedes AMG Driving Academy (or other performance driving schools)

I know Porsche has something similar with their Porsche Driving Experience program. BMW also has the BMW Performance Center. I'm curious if anyone here has done this and what their experience was like.

You go there and you can either make it an all day thing or stretch it out over two days. One day is about $2k and the two-day program is $4k-$5k. You can either bring your car or use their cars - either way you'll be using their cars if you want to drive multiple models. You run races, timed laps and walk through different maneuvers with instructors. There is one in Connecticut that looks like it'd be a good time if I went for a couple days.

It's kind of nerdy but it seems like it would be fun. There are just a lot of way you can't push the car on the road. Hitting top speeds is one thing (165-185) but driving performance cars is all about how you maneuver in and out of turns (driving lines, braking, hitting the apex, etc.) and unless you want to Paul Walker yourself or trash your car, you're not going to do this on your local city streets.

I could track the car down in Atlanta, but I'd prefer to get some pointers first, and get a little experience before going out there and looking like a frick boy.

Anyone done this or something similar?
