Let’s eliminate the college one and done rule

The rule is absolutely ridiculous. Superstars hardly unpack their bags before they’re headed to the NBA. My suggestion would be that if you want to go directly from high school into the NBA fine… Knock yourself out. But if you commit to a college the rules are the same as college football. You are there for three years minimum. This will drastically improve the quality of play in college basketball as well as the NBA as too many chuckleheads are leaving early without a full skill set.

You mean college baseball rules.
And this isn't a new idea.

Well why would the NCAA need to eliminate a NBA rule? The NBAPA probably isn’t really wanting it rescinded but of course the owners won’t mind.

In every sport you should be able to enter the draft after HS graduation (or equivalent). But once you enter college you have to wait 4 years or until graduation.

I agree the rule needs to go, but force someone to stay in college if they have a breakout freshman year? The NBA does not exist to make sure college bball is watchable.

The power is with the NBA. I guarantee the NBA loves the one and done rule because it makes the lives of GMs so much easier. They don't have to scout kids in high school games and they don't have to waste top 5 picks on Cliff Alexander, Josh Selby, Josh McRoberts, Skal Labissiere, etc.
I bet the NBA probably wants it to be 2 and done to make it even easier.

College basketball should adopt college baseball rules. But ultimately it is up to the NBA to decide.

Yeah, it makes zero sense and likely only exists to line the NCAA’s and her member schools’ pockets which isn’t an inherently bad thing but does a disservice to the student-athlete because it only functions as a halfway house to the NBA in most cases instead of encourage them to obtain a viable education. The old system where high-school graduates could immediately enter the NBA if they’re ready was obviously superior and elevated college basketball and her rivalries as well as further develop budding players who didn’t reach that level of competence yet. Winner for all parties.

Ah yeah.
In the 80's the Big East was like an NBA Conference.
You earned your titles back then...not like Calipari's and Coach K's bullshite today. Just beat a 3 teams worth a damn and then two quality teams in the tournament and you're golden.
The Best team of all-time (allegedly) lost to the 7th best team in their own conference in the NCAA Finals.
Conferences were stacked. It wasn't just Calipari, Pitino, Coach K bullshite storming through the tournament. Big East, ACC stacked.
Even as Coach K said, it was a chore in the 80's - we were playing against future All-NBA players night in and night out. No game was a gimmie.

It's an NBA rule.

the one and done is over, or close to being over.
i believe they are eliminating in in next 2 years??? sooner?

The nba loves one and done. Trae Young is infinitely more marketable today after one year than he would’ve been coming out of high school.

When you think about sports and academic institutions in general it's all stupid. Why offer a scholarship to someone like Ben Simmons or LeBron James? Clearly they have no intention of graduating college.

The players only have to go to class for one semester to be eligible to play, ala Ben Simmons. It is a fricking joke!!!

Superstars hardly unpack their bags before they’re headed to the NBA
If NASA spotted a person who could absolutely impact them and potentially improve what they do..
Would you be ok with the NCAA not allowing it?
