Is it safe to say the Destiny franchise is done?

I hate to beat a dead horse, but Destiny has gotten so bad and removed all the RPG elements that made the first one great...

Bungie keeps making false promises. And I'm not buying their BS anymore. I won't even bother with the next expansion even though I payed for it. Anyone out there holding out hope that bungie will get their shite together?

Also, any replacement recs?

I have lost all hope. Sucks. I also bought the $100 version after all the hours I sank into D1.

It’s sad, really.

As someone who played 1 religiously since it came out all the way up to Rise of Iron, I bought the deluxe version of 2 and have only taken my characters through the story and really not much else. I don't know what it is, but it's not the same. Even though for the record I do like a good bit of the changes they made.

Part of the problem is that they have no competition. There's no other game that's threatening their market share to force them to innovate. Hopefully, that's going to change later on this year when Bioware releases Anthem. It looks like a much better third person version of Destiny. If nothing else, it should light a fire under Bungie's arse before they lose all of their playerbase. It's set to release sometime in Q4 2018 (assuming it doesn't get delayed).

They should scrap it and start over on a new IP, that studio is still one of the best in the biz I'd be interested in something new.

They're contractually obligated to release a third.

I did not play Destiny 1, but I got D2 with the new GPU I purchased a couple months ago and decided to try it out.

I can't remember a game I've lost interest in quicker than Destiny 2. I'm with most people here, I don't really know why. I just don't want to play it anymore. Didn't even finish the campaign.

Huh?

The allure of Destiny and games like them fades somewhat when you realize how they are all structured to keep you chasing a character on a stick long enough for them to pump out the next bit of DLC that they can get more money from you for.

If y’all can live without the PvP, y’all should try Warframe. This damn game sucked me in recently and I don’t see myself quitting anytime soon. Insane amounts of customization, and the core gameplay loop is extremely fun.

E: it’s also f2p, and you can legitimately play it that way (but I will definitely be spending some money at some point cause the devs deserve it)

Ii don’t play destiny but I thought the general consensus was that the first one sucked and the 2nd was awesome? My roommate has been playing the shite out of 2. I’ve watched him a few times and it looks fun as hell

I'm pissed I bought destiny 2 because I went against all judgment I've built up over the last several years.

I've been good about waiting on games and buying them only after they're confirmed to be worthy. I didn't do that here. I felt like destiny 1 was an incomplete game with so much more they could have done, And it should have been a major red flag when they made another game which was basically a reskin.

Wife was into D1 really intense and got me into about the time of RoI....but I struggled with my first FPS on a console since it was both new to me. I learned but sucked at crucible. I still don't like the PvP aspect. Met up with some great guys from Houston and Baton Rouge playing the game. Then some personalities got involved and it just got to be more work than fun.

We started playing D2, but it's just not there for us. In fact we actually went back to playing WoW more than D2. Not to mention Bungie and PSN has more issues than Blizzard does with their servers. Kinda sucks..the game had great potential if they would have kept a longer quest line/mission line up rather than making the endgame about PvP.
