that's what I want to know. whether it's brennan or narcisse, if the game is on the line, does he take the ball out of the qb's hands? I mean, does he try to run on first and second down with the game on the line like Jacksonville did in the 4th quarter? when bortles was having the game of his life? Like les did in the big game against Alabama when mett was having the game of his life?

when the going gets tough, you've got to let your players play.

go for the damn win!

anyway, this is the question I have for next year. whoever is qb will make some mistakes, but so what? let the boys play!

I hope we see major changes with the offense but I'm not optimistic about it. Maybe I'll be proved wrong though.

Sure....till he fricks up and throws his first pick.....and then its splinters=in-the-arse time for whoever it happens to be.

I think this all depends on the demeanor and bounce back of the QB. Does the QB keep making the same mistakes? Does he understand the breakdown of the play when he does make mistakes?

I'm expecting mistakes from either Brennan and/or Narcisse. But when the coach asks them what happened with the play, have an accurate answer, stay positive and don't make the same mistake again. This is the growth I'm looking for from our QB.

I do not question Da Coach O’s nerve or guts.
I question his intellect, judgment and maturity.

What? What are you talking about? Your post is borderline nonsensical. Who is he going to give it to?

Go watch the second half of the Florida game and you can get your answer.

He doesn’t have much of a choice. We don’t have a Guice or Fournette type back anymore. WR is now the strength of the offense (at least on paper talent wise). Brossette and Helaire May surprise, but not in the level we are accustomed too. If he wants to keep his job he will have to trust his QB.

He's going to let his coordinators coach and not interfere. He promised, again.

Well, except for the running game. He's totally got the chops to be the running game coordinator.

It all depends on who the quarterback is and how good he is. Isn't that kind of common-sense? Why did we need a thread for this? I don't get it.

I also think you should play "to win" but people will scrutinize that decision also. I thought O should have went for the td against ND but at the same time I understood what he was thinking with the field goal. The problem with O's decision to kick a field goal was the defense had done a poor job of stopping ND on their previous possession and the defense looked tired. There are plenty of coaches that "play it safe", hell, saban is that way, he admitted in NC game he didn't like the play call at the end that led to the td for the win. Lincoln Riley did it to the heisman trophy winner in overtime. There are plenty of coaches that do that, I don't agree with it but that's the facts.

Probably not. Orgeron’s decision to kick the field goal at the end of the ND game was telling. He’s lost his aggressiveness and is more concerned with protecting his $3.5 million paycheck than maxing out LSU’s potential. Very similar to how Les operated down the stretch of his career.

Unless just about everyone is misreading where our talent lies on offense for 2018, we will live and die at the QB position. We don't have dynamic RBs this year and will likely have a committee approach to the run game. O and SE will have to be willing to accept mistakes at the QB spot as either guy learns and develops.

Can SE put together an offense that allows the QBs to progress without being too conservative or too risky? IDK.

Other questions will be what can Cregg do with the OL to improve pass protection? How quickly do our young talented WRs develop?

The one benefit is I expect Aranda's D to be better than last season as long as the CB opposite Greedy (Surtain?) can come in and play well. This will give our offense an increased margin of error as they get settled.

you have to play to win the game. sometimes that means passing even if you don't "trust" your QB. sometimes that means running the ball and controlling the clock. a coach, nor the fans, ever know which is best until the game is over.

it's part of what makes football a great game. auburn quit passing last year, our defense stiffened and we came back to win. auburn fans blamed their HC for "letting the foot off the gas". and a number of years ago we had a QB (Howard I believe) throw THREE pick 6's in the second half to let auburn win after we had a commanding lead. damn, we should have "let the foot off the gas".

the coach lives and dies by his decision. the fans hate the coach when the decision is wrong and they lose the game but RARELY give the coach credit when the decision turns out right.

example, I do not blame Orgeron kicking the FG in the notre dame game. it gave him the lead and one of the best defenses in college to bring the win home. it didn't work so he was crucified. if it had worked, he would not have been given credit.

Sure until he loses the first game due to turnovers and we are all calling for his head. Do you remember all the picks Jaime Howard threw? That coach got fired? You remember Lee pick 6 us to 8-5? Almost got miles fired 1 year after a NC.
