Fellow CPA's in public accounting, how many hours do you work in busy season?

For those in tax, how many hours are you working in the next 3 months, what's your budgeted hours, what size is your firm, and what is your position?
Just curious what it's like for others. I work at a top 100 firm, but our regional office is small. I'm only budgeted for 45 hour weeks in January and then 55 hour weeks the rest of the way. I'm lucky in that regard. I'm a Senior Staff.

You better hope they don’t automate your job before you hit partner

Public accounting is for suckers. Get out while you’re young and move to industry.
Best decision I’ve ever made.

Never worked for a large firm but early on I would say the most I worked in a week was about 60 hours.
I now own my own firm and probably will average around 40 a week from around mid Feb to early April. I’ve been slowly moving away from simpler individual returns which is reducing my hours during the busy season.

I agree public accounting is a horrible way to earn a living but I'd recommend doing it for about 5 years before moving to industry. Improves your chances of coming into industry at a higher level.
I never worked tax, always audit. Did 7 years

I agree.
I did 4 at a pretty large regional firm and that get like a life time. That being said, I did learn a lot while I was there that still helps me today.

It’s fun to be an accountant,
And sail the wide Accountancy.
To go explore the funds Offshore,
And skirt the Shoals of Bankruptcy.

Probably 50 hours or so. There's no busy season in Sales and Use which is really nice. Big 4, but I have 3 clients and work 45 or so hours a week normally.

Less than 65 and you are slacking.

Jackson Hewitt services in Walmart is considered a “firm”?

Public accounting hours are a joke compared to most strategy consulting and IB. 4 months working 60-70 hr weeks just isn’t that bad.
To be fair, public accounting pays pretty bad until Partner so that’s worth considering.

First year at this firm but sounds like 45-50 hours a week. Doesn't sound bad at all and I get OT.
