And?

Patriots points per drive:
2007 - 3.37 (1st)
2008 - 2.42 (3rd)
2009 - 2.34 (5th)

Patriots yards per drive:
2007 - 41.63 (1st)
2008 - 35.67 (4th)
2009 - 36.93 (1st)

The offense was still pretty damn good with Cassel.

Brees >>> Brady, Superdome >>> Rose Bowl and the Pellies are a lock for a top 5 seed

Hey it's the dumb guy that thinks he's smarter than everyone!!!

Brees=Brady. They can be 1a and 1b. If Brees played for the Pats he'd have just as many super bowls give or take one.

And and the Pels are a half game back of the 5 seed. Go frick a goat.

I have NO problem with your pick of Lane..... However he doesn't come close to Deion AND the era that they both played..........

Era they played is that why Lane still holds the single season record for interceptions? I mean his era they didn’t throw it every 2 plays or play as many regular season games.

Is that why he is on the 75th Anniversary Team but Deion isn’t?

Super Bowl wins for a QB might be the worst way to compare QBs. Trent Dilfer is a Super Bowl winning QB, and we can all agree there are a lot of QBs better than him that didn’t win a Super Bowl.

It's tough for me to take any QB stats seriously from the last 15 years or so. With rules changes and the way the game is reffed they are completely watered down. I think Draconian's list is pretty close (now I feel like I need to bathe having typed that).
Whenever QB discussions come up, I personally discount anyone who amassed the bulk of their numbers post-2000. WRs, also. When you remove fear of contact from any position, the game completely changes.

*Deion is nowhere close to #1.

the problem lies with comparing players from different eras. There will never be a GOAT. Everyone will have their own reasons as to why this or that player is the GOAT. If you are among the 3 or 4 mentioned in that talk.... well, consider yourself lucky and know that you are one of the legends.

Agreed. The conceit of people my age is assuming QBs from this era couldn't go back and perform in the tougher game of years past. Could Brees be great in the 70s before "defenseless receiver" nonsense, QBs able to throw it out of bounds, "Brady rule" roughing calls and other things that have made the QB position markedly easier? Assuredly.
But to state that any QB now is better than those in years past based on stats - whether compiled numbers like yards, completions and TDs; or ratings metrics - is laughable.

I mean, Peyton’s last Super Bowl was won entirely by his defense. If Brees gets 2, he should be ahead of Peyton all time ranks. Also, beat him head to head.

so you are saying. The only way brees is better than peyton is if he wins one more superbowl? if nkt then peyton is better?

He's a great QB, first ballot hall of famer, nobody denies this. But he's not the GOAT. He's in the Steve Young tier. That's not a slam btw.

Young had Jerry Rice. Brady will likely have 3 receivers end up in the HOF. Rodgers will have at least one. Peyton Manning will have 2 at least. How many will Drew Brees have? Also likely to end his career as the most accurate passer in history.

So you can water down stats all you want. But Drew completes passes at a GOAT rate to a bunch of guys that would likely be 2-3 on any other team in the NFL. It is absolutely criminal that Drew doesn’t have an MVP because Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers and cherry picking when certain stats are important.

its so hard to compare the top QBs from one another. same for the MJ vs LeBron debates, Saban vs Belichick, etc because everyone measures success differently

but I think to be considered the GOAT conversation, you need a large body of work in which a player/coach succeeds individually and with their team. you can argue that the Packers and Patriots are better run organizations or someone had a better coach or better/worse defense, so that's why I think you need both individual and team success.

Individual Stats:
-Aaron Rogers has the highest career passer rating at 103.8, Brady is 97.6, and Brees is at 96.7.
-Brees (6,222) will surpass Favre (6300) next season in career completions. Brady (5,629) is the next closest active player
-Brees (70,445) will pass Favre (71,838) and Manning (71,940) next season in career passing yards and Brady (66,158) is the next closest active player
-Brady and Brees are tied with 488 career TD passes and will both likely pass Manning (538) as the all-time leader by the time they retire
-Manning has 4 MVPs, Rogers/Brady/Favre/Steve Young all have 2, and Brees has 0
-Brees holds the single season records for passes completed, passing yards, and completion percentage
-Manning and Brady are ahead of Brees for number TD passes in a single season & passer rating in a single season

Team Success:
-Manning has 45 career 4th quarter comebacks, Brady has 41, Brees has 30
-Brady is the most winning QB ever with a career record of 221-64. The list after goes Manning 200-92, Favre 199-123, Elway 162-89, Marino 155-103, and Brees 149-111
-Brady is 5-2 in Superbowls, Elway is 2-3, Bradshaw & Montana are 4-0, Kelly 0-4, Peyton & Staubach are 2-2, Brees is 1-0

While Brees leads Brady in many individual stat categories, Brady leads Drew in a few. And the gap between the two in which Brees leads Brady is not huge.
When it comes to team success, Brady, Manning, Elway, Montana, & Bradshaw sit at the top. And the gap between Brady's team success & Brees' is much larger than the gap in Brees' individual stats and Brady's.

I think there is no debate that Brees will go down as a top 10 QB of all-time, arguably top 5. But I think guys like Brady, Manning, & Favre (maybe Rogers by the end of his career) that had both individual success and team success will always sit ahead of Drew.

Interception Machine Favre does not merit inclusion on a top 7 greatest QBs of all-time list, I'd replace him with Starr or A-Rod

Favre's INT rate doesn't exclude him from that conversation. There's a lot more to take into account. Rogers may pass him, but not yet. And lol on Starr
