So I'm looking for some new music and need some recommendations for folks based on the following guys I really like:

-Leon Bridges
-Amos Lee
-James Morrison

I'm not even sure what I would call these guys, soulful acoustic? Simple, rhaspy voice with some piano and jazz undertones.

Any recommendations? I'm terrible at discovering new artists. TIA!

You like female singers?

Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker both put out fantastic new albums recently.

None of these guys are new either, but

Ryan Adams
Jack Johnson
Ben Harper

and really old school but always worth mentioning - Jim Croce.

William Elliott Whitmore - Dry

Unfortunately, he seems to be taking a back seat in a new band these days. He put on the best "guy on a chair" show I've ever seen.

Try Childish Gambino's latest album. He usually does rap, but the last one was soul / funk and it was fantastic.

Full Album

Also Jim James's (My Morning Jacket) 2016 solo album is very good.

I second Son Little : Lay Down & Your Love Will Blow Me Away
-Michael Kiwanuka : Home Again & Cold Little Heart
-Robert Ellis : How I Love You
-Tyler Childers : Lady May
The last two are less “jazzy” but who knows you might like it.

Great stuff fellas! I can tell from some of the older stuff mixed in like Jim Croce (one of the "what if" GOATs IMO) that I'm gonna like the recommendations.

Excited to check these out!

Try Nathaniel Rateliff and Brandi Carlisle if you are unfamiliar with them.

Charlie Crockett....his latest album is more country but his first album had a soul/jazz element to it.

Dude, same. He was a really cool guy, too.

I bought two beers when I went to the bar and walked up to the stage and handed him one. He said “now that’s some fricking southern hospitality”, took a swig and started his next song.

CSB I know.
