My taxes are going up by close to $5,000 and I don't live in high-tax California. I live in low-tax Missouri. Republicans voted to raise my federal income tax bill so they could hand it out to the "middle class". That's Marxism. Republican Marxism.
My advice to you is to seek the nearest safe space on Mizzou's campus and start a protest there.

This is nonsense:If you pay $X in taxes, then the federal government changes the tax code so you pay $X + $5,000 in taxes, the federal government raised your tax bill. Period.
Fixed
You have the right idea vis a vis Marxism, but your conclusion is wrong. Keep at it grasshopper, you’ll earn that MAGA hat yet.

I already pay 50% of what I earn in taxes, and you think that's "not fair"? You're a Marxist.

So you're going to get a deduction.
Story is falling apart, homie.

But people in California love high taxes

California has some of the highest state & federal deductions in the country and this has helped them avoid owning their taxes. Now, California gets to own those tax increases. They no longer get to live off the bailout deductions from the state and feds.

Govt should stay out of our business as much as possible! That means they shouldn't pay you to have more kids! Or Pay you to buy a house! Or Pay you to donate to charity.
That part is true but the rest of your post is nonsense.
A tax break for doing any of those activities is not the government paying you to do anything.
The Government has no money except what it takes from us.

If every tax bracket got a lower rate, and you have low income state taxes. Please explain to me how you federal income taxes are going up.
I'm not being a smartass, I just don't understand how that is possible.
Sure. I don't expect anyone to feel sorry for me. I just want people to realize that this tax bill steals money out of my pocket to put into the pockets of others. It's Marxism, plain and simple.
-------------------------------------------
Estimated 2017 tax bill (current tax code):
-------------------------------------------
Federal AGI = $248,000
Mortgage interest deduction = $36,338
State Income Tax Deduction = $13,513
Property Tax Deduction = $11,875
Total Deductions = $61,725
Total Exemptions = $12,150
Federal Taxable Income = $174,125
Federal Income Tax = $35,279
-------------------------------------------
Estimated 2017 tax bill (proposed tax code):
-------------------------------------------
Federal AGI = $248,000
Mortgage interest deduction = $26,250 (capped)
State Income Tax Deduction = $0 (eliminated)
Property Tax Deduction = $10,000 (capped)
Total Deductions = $36,250
Total Exemptions = $0 (eliminated)
Federal Taxable Income = $211,750
Federal Income Tax = $39,898
-------------------------------------------
Tax increase = $39,898 - $35,279 = $4,619
-------------------------------------------
Summary: The rate reduction doesn't make up for the lost deductions, not even close. If we earned significantly more, the rate reductions would have a more significant impact than the lost deductions. If we earned significantly less, we wouldn't have been able to deduct nearly as much in the first place. But my family is in a "sweet spot" where we get raped by this tax bill. Enjoy spending my money.
P.S. We make too much to get the child tax credit under the current tax code, but we can at least claim a personal exemption for the child. Under both new plans, we won't get either.

I can’t keep up with this shite. Every liberal keeps saying different. First it was “raise our taxes, we can afford it”, now it’s “why’d you raise my taxes??”

Dude. Someone making your exact income in my state has a higher federal income tax burden than you used to have. So no offense but Cry Me a River. Your problem is with your State Legislature and your local politicians

Nope, my gripe is with people who say they're going to give me a tax cut, then actually increase my tax bill.

Your lack of understanding of the Dynamics of the situation is a you problem.
If you're going to complain to the wrong people you're not likely to solve the problem

You are going to have a hard time convincing your fellow proggies that this tax bill is bad with your 248k AGI

I'm libertarian, not progressive. I know progressives are always coming for my money. It turns out, Republicans are coming for my money, too.
The federal government is stealing more of my money. Period. That's a bad thing, but you think that's a good thing. That makes you a Marxist.
