At a function

Talking with dweeb. Ask him if he works with Joe.

Dweeb says yes. Dweeb asks me what I think of Joe. Dweeb than proceeds to tell me that he “fricking hates joe.”

I quietly explain I’ve known joe socially for a long time before I joined the company and he is alright by me.

My grown up instincts say just forget what dweeb said (even though he said it loud enough for others to hear him)

But part of be is so insulted that dweeb has the arrogance to call out someone so brazenly and on someone who is almost a family friend.

I feel loyal to their family even on petty shite like this.

I 99.9% won’t say anything but i kinda hate myself for that.
