Never mind just realized who I was responding to you are one of the biggest sheep on this board.
This is actually the best argument I've heard. Wow. That changes my mind, honestly. Makes sense.

data caps are far more damaging than this made up NN boogeyman.
guess what? i'm already getting frickED by data caps right now and the obama NN has nothing whatsoever to do with that.
how about we spend our energy on ACTUAL problems..not some hypothetical.

they're going to do it...Im super serial! I know, because reddit told me they will, even though it would be a bad business model and hurt them financially, and theyve never done it.
So what's the upside of this decision then?

I do this now. My friends bring a hard drive over to my house and I copy my plex content to it so they can watch it when they get home and they bring me stuff I copy to my plex box.

comcast is already data capping everyone UNDER OBAMA'S NN so the hell if i'm sharing plex with anyone. i can barely stay under the cap as it is.
blaming data caps on NN
They are in place bc of people streaming their content and not buying cable tv

Haven't seen them - this issue bores the frick out of me but I made myself read this thread.

Don't worry we can trust monopolies to do the right thing, in an efficient and fair manner.

i'm not.
i'm saying NN has no impact on ISP's decision to cap us..which is far more of a problem than the NN boogeyman y'all are trying to scare people with.

Data caps do nothing to improve the network and would be done away with if we had actual IPS completion.

I remember in 2014 my netflix went to shite because it hurt comcast business model.
Posted on 12/14/17 at 2:27 pm to CptBengal
in 2012 internet was classified as an information service, with rules that ISP's honor the principles of net neutrality. In 2014 Verizon sues the FCC (because Netflix) and the ruling holds that net neutrality principles are not enforceable by the FCC with out Title II common carrier public utility status. In 2015 FCC moves internet from an information service back to Title II common carrier public utility in an effort to maintain net neutrality. So in 2012 ISP's were not allowed to, but after today's vote, they will be allowed to discriminate or charge differently by user, content, website, platform, application, etc. FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER. Acting like we are returning to 2012 is extremely misleading. Yes we are returning from Title II to an information service, but for the first time we have a legal precedent that ISP's are not required to honor net neutrality.

You would have a point except ISPs have already shown their hand with this. By not counting some content against your data cap. Example AT&T and DTV Now. Prioritizing traffic and data caps are now going hand in hand.

and your plan is to limit the potential for competition even further?
your arguments are literally contradictory.

Running Plex outside of your house? lawd what a waste of bandwidth.

So using this line of thinking we should give up our guns? The government in the US has never tried to take control therefore they never will.

Luckily 21 states have already filed lawsuits and they'll be a stay on the ruling. So as ignorant as you are, luckily you'll still be protected for the time being.
