Honest question...why continue to say what you did? Is it that you've never seen an answer to what he'd have to do to win many over? Is it that you simply do not believe us when we tell you what it would have to be? Do you think the criteria is asking to much?
Seriously...why? I ask as someone who has really made an effort to take the time to explain my position many MANY times. It's once thing to not agree, but to continue to ignore those responses as if you guys keep asking and you're getting crickets in return just seems so disingenuous.

Criticizing the hire with factual-based arguments =/= "bad mouthing"
When are you people going to stop acting like there's some kind of personal vendetta against O?

This is a flat out lie. Wow!
No it's not. I have on numerous occasions given him credit for a big win against Auburn. Unlike you, I'm apparently able to simultaneously criticize negative aspects and praise positive aspects without suffering cognitive dissonance.

No different then any of the past seasons for whoever was the head coach.
How you doing Red?

Because it was a bad hire.

So if we go 10-3 it's still a bad hire????

Yes.

You can't possibly need this explained to you again, can you?
From page 6 of the thread entitled "View from a known opponent..." in response to this exact same fricking question from you:
quote:
Anyone with any intellectual honest will say yes, because the ends would still not justify the means.
The hiring process that resulted in handing the keys to a man with a sub .500 record will FOREVER and EVER be a shite filled one. If it miraculously works out, that in no way will change what happened, and will in no way become a road map for other Power 5 conference teams to handle their searches. Or are you and other suggesting this will become the new paradigm where programs no longer look for the best resume but search out potential diamonds in the rough who were shitty at their first job because, you know, Ed Orgeron worked out??
Essentially what you're asking is does doing a horrendously stupid thing only to have it work out retroactively make the thing not stupid?
No. The outcome has nothing to do with the process.
So...why ask AGAIN if to not just muddy the fricking board with your shite?

who would you have hired?
I would have started with everyone not a complete and utter failure at their previous stop as head coach. From there, I would have targeted Willingham, Patterson, or Fleck. Somewhere in my post history I think there is a list of over 30 coaches more qualified than who we hired.

No matter how Coach O does here, on paper at the time, it was a horrific hire.
There was without question dozens of much more qualified coaches with better resumes who even had a winning record as a head coach.
This isn't to say O can't be successful, and I hope he is, but this was an extremely dangerous hire. Most hires are done when a program is a complete disarray and dumpster fire, LSU did theirs with a top 25 team in tact and filled with talent. I don't think people realize how easy and quickly a program can stumble into irrelevance. Plenty of examples of that this past season. While I am happy we can possibly hit 10 wins this year, I still can't completely safely say I am confident about where this program is at
This years schedule wasn't the best barometer to compare. It was probably one of the easiest schedules we have had in over a decade in a down SEC and we still went 9-3. Next year will say a lot about where we will head as a program
You have to tip your hat to O and the staff as the season could have went really bad after a bad start, hopefully we can build on this and improve next year

That's fine. You were offended by how he delivered the message, but do you not understand the quote?

Not now. Unfortunately, Alleva has made the bed we have to lie in for a while. We just have to hope that the program is not damaged after this little experiment is over.

Another asinine comment.

Way too many words. shite, this sentence of yours that I quoted is right on the brink of being too complicated for PEEJ to deciper.

There were some I suppose. But it wasn't until the team looked like crap the entire month of September that people got really vocal about their concerns.
The first few weeks were acceptable since the team was learning a new offense, but by the time the Mississippi State game rolled around, there shouldn't have been the issues the team was having. And for the team to completely quit in that game the way they did is totally unacceptable and falls solely on the head coach.
Everyone has given Orgeron and his team kudos for the Auburn win, which they deserve, because that was a very good win over a tough team, but other than that game, there really isn't anything to get excited about.
And then you have posters (like yourself) that have said what a great job o did this year and the won/loss record was acceptable. And we all know that in previous years, a 3 loss season was totally unacceptable.
So I'm sure that some folks have been a little more vocal just trying to drown out all the praise being heaped on o for a average season.
Just my opinion dukke.

At the time I was shocked they hired him... there were other better coaches to choose from no doubt... but he is the coach of the team I root for and I will support him AND bash his arse when needed.... it just gets old when some on here is all they do is trash on the guy over and over.....

I still hate the hire but I will always root for him because I want LSU to do well, no matter whoever is the coach. We will always have miserable fans not happy, it was pretty evident when Miles and Saban were the coaches. And those two had some remarkable success here too.
I tip my hat and award credit where its due, but will criticize when it is deserved. Doesn't matter who is the head coach, I treat O the same way I treated Les
All fan-bases have their bad fans, believe it or not a small portion of the bama fan base wants Saban fired after a loss to Auburn this season.

What do you consider trashing over and over? Saying it was a bad hire?
