Went to a new dentist arranged on Groupon a couple of months ago.

I was shocked, shocked when they told me I had 3 cavities and several other issues and wanted a thousand bucks. I had always been pretty good about hygiene and dental health so I decided to get a second opinion.

I just got back from a second opinion and they confirmed that the previous dentist was full of shite and my teeth are fine.

Don’t ever feel bad about getting a second or third opinion. Many dental offices will offer health checkups including x-rays for manageable prices.

You picked a dentist via Groupon? Serves you right.

maybe you should not use the dentist that is advertising a groupon. I don't see Dr. James Andrews offering a Groupon for Tommy John surgery.

What's worse than dentistry scams? Dental insurance scams.

When choosing a dentist, ask friends and co-workers for recommendations. Never choose a healthcare provider solely by cost or insurance. If you have any doubts about your diagnosis or treatment plan get a second opinion.

That’s a pretty common thing in a large city.

I’ve gone to my small town dentist for years.

I asked for recommendations and several people suggested I just do Groupon and pick a place with good reviews.

The place I picked was 4 stars with 800 plus reviews

I'll pay for a full scan xray. They have to show me the cavities.
Don't get this done without seeing an xray.

True dat. You can get good cleaning and xray deals with a Groupon, but I guarantee they are going to find something wrong with your teeth. You gotta be willing to tell them to frick off.

I recently used a Groupon for a cleaning and xrays and the hygienist woman was telling me my teeth looked good and everything thing was fine. The dentist came in and told me I needed three fillings replaced. frick that.

Yeah, 800 people aren't taking the time to review a fricking dentist. That should have clued you in right away.

Wait till you start having vague flashbacks of the parts of the visit you don't remember because of the laughing gas. You know, the parts where the dentist's balls were in your mouth and he was sending snaps to his buddies.

The moral: Never use Groupon unless you enjoy the taste of testes.

So you tried to save money by using Groupon and ended up paying extra to have second opinion? Hoepfully you can see where this went wrong.

Went to a new dentist when I knew I had a cavity. They tried to sell me on some antibiotic injection into my gums. Then told me I would need two of my teeth drilled out to have crowns put in, and inlays put in a couple of other teeth. When I got done, I was $5000 in the hole after insurance but all of my old mercury fillings were gone.

I'm pretty sure I only needed a couple of simple fillings, but I was taken to the cleaners by a retail dentist.
