True, unfortunaly for him three of those classes weren't his.
Swing and you missed.

He won 3 SEC games in 3 years and his last year was his worst. What exactly was his "peak", in your mind?
Not my mind, it is what Hugh Freeze said, basically knocking his bosses at the time in defense of what Eaux was building at Ole Miss.
The two years after Eaux left was undeniable proof that what Freeze said was correct. Then the next coach failing to recruit his own players or implement a system that would prevent him from going 0-8 and getting fired just further proved Freeze was correct about Eaux not getting any support from the administration and was not given enough time.

If Alleva hires O solely based off his interim gigs and ignored his only experience as an actual HC, then Alleva dumber than I could ever imagine.
Seriously.
Think about what you are saying

quote:he got hired because alleva is a lazy piece of shite that didn't want to get into a bidding war. Nobody else in all of college football wanted orgeron as their head coach. If they did you would think after his awesome display of coaching at usc as the interim his phone would have rang instead he sat at home until les called.
Coach Eaux was hired as the LSU head coach because of what he had accomplished the last few years at USC and LSU

His record at Ole Miss is irrelevant now.
It was absolutely relevant last year during the hiring process.
To say otherwise is completely retarded.
While true, the problem is 1) Seeing things replicated like "One Team, One Heartbeat", the Drum, etc. If he's doing the same things..... it does matter 2) The Ole Miss run was such a debacle that he has to be enormously successful next year to prove people wrong. His history said he was not a NC coach. So either we want to get a coach who has proved they can do that, or proved they can win at least a conference championship to show it, or every year until that happens is "O cannot win a championship of any kind." And we aren't supposed to be a tryout school, but that's what this is.

If Dan Mullen turns Florida around next year is it undeniable proof that McElwain just needed one more year?

9-3 with losses to Troy and Mississippi State aint so hot.
9-3 AFTER losses to Troy and MS St is pretty damn good. A chance to finish in the top 10 for the first time in 5 years is even better. Especially for a 1st year HC with a 1st year OC having to play well over 30 freshmen during the season.

Is it too late to lead a Clay Travis type revolt?

What this team did after the losses to Troy and Mississippi State does not negate the losses to Troy and Mississippi State. Those are horrible losses no matter what happens after them. And we are ranked 17th right now. We have no more of a "chance to finish in the top 10" this year than we did several times over the last 5 years.

Why is that so difficult for people like you to understand that people like me want a head coach that has shown he can run a successful program year end and year out?
What the hell can person are you? You definitely like to point out that "people like me", blah, blah, blah. I guess you are the only kind of person that wants a successful program, huh? Why are people like YOU content to ignore what he did during his interim periods? Sure, he sucked at Ole Miss, but does that mean he didn't learn from his past mistakes? The possibility of going 10-3 in his first year does not seem that bad to me.
And you are also the kind that will point out O's loss to Troy, but say that Saban's losses to UAB or ULM are not the same thing. I also bet that this staff does not give a half a shite that you and your minions have no idea of what his program looks like or any of the remaining laundry list of gripes that you have. Why can't you just support the coach and hope that he succeeds? If it does not pan out, then you can gloat while we are looking for the next coach to lead LSU.

If in a few years a guy who is the HC at UF was on Mullen's staff and disrespects his bosses to the national media saying how they did not support McElwain or give him enough time, I would say YES to answer your question.

So if we beat Notre Dame, the head coach at LSU, one of the premier programs in the country, will have a .500 career record.
That’s not very encouraging.

Why do we have to settle for someone that has to prove himself, as opposed to someone that's demonstrated excellence already? We should be above that as a program.

Because many people are trying to redefine what success as LSU's head coach means. We fired our last coach for 9-3 type seasons. Now, some people are considering the season a success. The goal posts are constantly moving, and this is why it seems as though some people are constantly "bashing" coach O. Nobody wants him to fail, but there is a group of fans that want to be sure that if he fails LSU takes quick action and does not allow a segment of the fan base to constantly lower expectations so that O meets them just because they like the guy.
We were told that Orgeron was hired because it was believed that he could keep the recruiting classes together and immediately have LSU in playoff contention. It only took 3 weeks into the season and a 30 point loss to Mississippi State for the narrative to change. After that loss the excuses started flying. We were told that we are "too young" and were hampered by Miles' lack of recruiting on the OL. Then we were told that a new OC will take some lumps while implementing their offense.
Now, it looks like we may have a new OC again next year, which is sure to be followed by more excuses. The bar will simply be lowered by some again next year to excuse the head coach because they like the guy.

CEO has proven he can recruit and attract top assist coaches.
He can recruit but we really don’t know if he can attract good assistants.
Aranda was a holdover hired by Miles. And Cananda looks like a good hire, but he may have had enough of O after one year and might bolt. If so can O replace him with someone as good or better. We have no idea. But if he has the reputation of meddling and not letting the OC run his offense, he might not attract good assistants. And god help us if/when Aranda leaves.
