But they weren't some kind of perennial doormat when O was hired there, nor were they immediately after his firing.

Yeah, even while Hugh Freeze was the HC at Ole Miss he explained why Ole Miss was so successful in the two years after Eaux left. It was pretty evident though when the guy after Eaux eventually wound up going 0-8 SEC and was himself canned.

He rode the Eaux wave that wasn't given the chance to reach it's peak while he was still there.

His record at Ole Miss is irrelevant now.

It was absolutely relevant last year during the hiring process.

To say otherwise is completely retarded.

LSU’s coach getting to .500 is a positive? Geez, we’ve fallen off.

The Geez is the idiots who think the LSU coach's overall record matters. The only thing that should matter to LSU fans at this point and time is his record at LSU.

But they have to go find shite to be miserable and cry about. Good shite !!!!

Ole Miss went to a Cotton Bowl in the immediate years in front of Orgeron and following Orgeron

They went 4-8 in the year immediately preceding Orgeron. Orgeron recruited all the talent for Nutt. Once that talent dried up, so did Nutt

L-o-fricking-L

He won 3 SEC games in 3 years and his last year was his worst. What exactly was his "peak", in your mind?

Between 2003-2006 they ranked avg 10th in the sec in recruiting and mid 30's in the nation.

Mid 30s should be good enough to get to a bowl game.

It’s relevant because some LSU fans want to know what his capabilities are when running his own program as a head coach.

In his first season it is a possible 10 win season and top 10 ranking.

You crying about that?

Why is that so difficult for people like you to understand that people like me want a head coach that has shown he can run a successful program year end and year out?

Because like all the other shite you typed it doesn't fricking matter what you want. Just don't watch the games if it bothers you.

Why are you content to ignore the only piece of evidence regarding that in favor of , well, nothing ?

Don't mean to answer for whomever you are talking to, but it may be because LSU may possibly finish in the top 10 this season for the first time in over 5 years. But, yeah go ahead and concentrate on ancient history from over a decade ago that means absolutely nothing.

the only "eaux" wave at ole miss was one of destruction. he recruited talent but couldn't coach it. it was obvious he was getting worse every game at ole miss. Go ask an rebels fan if they wanted O to coach longer so he could ride the "wave" you talk of?

So his only real HC job is irrelevant? It might be 10 years ago, but damn, its the only other time he's tried this head coaching thing.

Yes ole miss is the fricking doormat of the SEC right in front of vandy, U.K. and miss state

So Croome, Joker Phillips, and Bobby Johnson all would have been acceptable hires correct?

Why do you care about something that happened 10 years ago to a bottom dwelling sec school?
I know y'all hate the man, but you seriously need to quit being the little bitches you are and GYFOIT.

Every coach before and after O at Ole Miss had more success than he did. So 'bottom dweller' is relative.

Coaches trend.

What was Jim harbaugh stock 3 years ago? Has he produced like Michigan people thought? Guys yet to beat biggest rival.
What about Jim maclewain?
Remember the guy from Iowa? He and nick Saban were cream of the up coming crop 10 years ago.
Gus malzahn? Dude lost 11 games in 2 years.
Bert? Fired, former big 10 COY
What about tommy tuberville? Remember him?

All these coaches know football.
It comes down to recruiting and putting top asstss around you to be successful.
CEO has proven he can recruit and attract top assist coaches.

I just choose to be positive about the guy instead of worrying about the man's 10 plus years ago stint at dump known as Oxford miss.

I can hear it now. It's the year 2020. LSU has just won the National Championship and who shows up but all the O haters with that old refrain, "yea, but we lost to Troy"

Sure man sure !!!

Coach Eaux was hired as the LSU head coach because of what he had accomplished the last few years at USC and LSU. Not what he did over a decade ago at Ole Miss. Ancient history was not needed when LSU was able to evaluate the turn-arounds at two P5 programs under Eaux's leadership.

I can get behind this for sure.

9-3 with the schedule we faced this year is neither cause for celebration nor for a lynch mob. Whether or not O is the guy to lead us to the top is still very much TBD. I can't really say I have the utmost confidence, but he's here now and will get his shot. Next year will be very, very telling.
