Why are you bringing up a war that none of us had anything to do with in a discussion about the racist north today?

Kind of my problem with this whole discussion. Here we have white people across different regions accusing each other of being racist and I disagree with the premise that white people are any more racist than any other group in the first place. In some cases I'd argue that modern American white people are less racist, on average, than some others.

i'm half yankee and half southern, with my grandmother on the yankee side being from the Caribbean. i know what my family's experience was in the North and it was racist as frick.
the reason why the North is able to be more racist is because outside of a few urban areas, there aren't black people outside of the South. and those urban areas are segregated as frick.

Well if we want to paint an entire region based on actions from the past, why not paint the entire Democrat party with that same brush? They were the party of slavery, the klan, segregation, etc...
Can't really be any more racist than that.

I've also split time between the Midwest and the Deep South. Midwesterners very rarely discuss race or the Civil War while I'd say it's a huge discussion point for about half of White Southerners. I've never heard the N word in Nebraska, I heard it routinely in South Alabama when it was just White men around.
