That’s not the point

He was able to attract Fisher to A&M. Similar to Peterson at Washington who’s not making 75 million guaranteed

Well, we do have Dave Aranda now. And Corey Raymond is a better DB coach than Smart.

They went 9-2 in the regular season, lost the bowl game to Iowa in a colossal Saban melt and finished 9-3. Mind you, this was YEAR FIVE of Nick Saban.

They opened the season by surviving at home against Oregon State because their kicker had the worst game in the history of kicking. They had the Auburn game stolen from them on the imfamous Ronnie Prude call that was called one time all year. They were utterly DEMOLISHED by a revenge-minded Georgia 45-16, they barely eaked out a 4 point win against Troy at home (yes Troy) before playing well down the stretch. And then the aforementioned Iowa meltdown and Saban went out like a lying chump before reinventing himself as Darth Vader meets Bear Bryant.

All that talent and we still lost three games and melted for the whole season.

75 mill gauranteed for 8-9wins a year would get his arse fired in 4 years.

He hired a coach with 82 wins in 8 years and only 1 season less than 9 and only 2 with less than double digits what remedial math gives you 8-9 wins a year?

I love this take, some of you are such imbeciles. It was year 5 so what they were never supposed to lose again let alone have close games? Did you miss what happened in year 4? Or year 2 for that matter? I swear what Saban has done at Alabama has so warped peoples perceptions and some you are too young or too stupid to appreciate how bad of shape the program was in when Saban got here. He brought in 1 of if not the greatest class in school history in 2001 one of the deepest classes in state history, with substandard facilities. 2002 was a down year in state but 03 and were epic classes. After the NC a lot of guys, including Mauck, left and the RSFR QBs weren’t ready yet in 04 and they went 9-2 and left the program loaded for bear.
