I am not sure this is going to be an upgrade for Jimbo. FSU has a national brand that is associated with success. When I hear A&M, I don't associate it with success.

Recruiting should be better at FSU due to being in Florida and with UF being down, FSU should get the best recruits.

Its in the ACC and you don't have to face AU, BAMA, and LSU each year. So that will be a challenge that he hasn't faced and this year he struggled in the ACC.

I cannot think of any reason why Jimbo would think A&M is a better job other than money.

Congrats to A&M if they get him but I just wonder how long he will be happy and not look for a job each year like he as done the last few years.

No

It's not even close to being in the same tier as FSU.

No, he is moving for money. A&M has much lower expectations than FSU. That is a good thing b/c it is much easier to win at FSU than it is at A&M.

They ain't paying him $75m to win 8-9 games.

Aggy has a newly refurbished stadium, new facilities, and a huge donor base. Its an excellent job. A perennial under achieving sleeping giant. They need their own version of Saban to kick start the program - exactly how he did for LSU.

Fans complaining about over paying Jimbo are just ignorant to market economics. There are more programs that want to win a NC than there are coaches that can build the program to do it. Thus, the prices for their services skyrocket. Jimbo turned FSU around and won a NC.

Time will tell if it's really the "sleeping giant" that folks keep making it out to be. I just don't see it tbh.

When you underachieve every year in your programs history then maybe you're not underachieving.

Perfect storm... Jimbo wanting to bail on FSU... A&M willing to back up the Brinks Truck at any cost.

Let see what factors make for a better job:

1. short term history of success (0-10 year past)
2. medium term history of success (10-30 years past)
3. long term history of success (30-100 years past)
4. alumni base
5. TV exposure
6. financial resources
7. recruiting base

FSU is clearly superior superior is regards to 1 and 2.
A&M is clearly superior in regards to 4 and 6.
A&M is slightly better in regards to 3 and 5.
7 is a wash.

They just fired a guy who won 8 games in his down years. They were 51-26 under Sumlin. Not good enough. Their expectations are obviously very very high.

3,4,6 doesn't matter to recruits. They grow up idolizing players, FSU kills A&M on that front. Heck, all the recruits need is a gimmick. Nike built the ducks into a national power by giving the players new uniforms every week.

Recruiting is all that matter an I think FSU wins out there.

Oregon didn’t really recruit at that high of a level under Chip

And 6 might be the most important thing for a coach which is what he was referring to and your thread was about

it's not. been saying. TAMU is like ole missy in the west now. Jimbo is a fool to go there. jimbo has a stacked resume. If i were him i am only taking 4 sec jobs. UF, LSU, AU and BAMA (of course if available). all 4 have made at least 2 natty games the last 11 years.

You think the only thing that matters to coaches for job desirability is how the school has previously recruited?

He will recruit and field better teams than was there previously. Too bad we have a cheap arse AD could have had a superstar tandem in Jimbo and Aranda. Texas A&M will be very successfull with him there.

Deion Sanders said:
Texas Money & Facilities > Florida
But
Florida Players > Texas

Said it in tweets years ago. Was talking about how high school is loved and enjoyed by everyone in Texas and has lots of money and better stadiums etc. But he said Florida still has better skill players because Florida has more speed.
