Good lord. With that type of contract how long is Jimbo's grace period? One season? Dude better deliver a championship quick.

Imagine being the school that pays their coach 7.5 million for an 8-4 season

And marginal at best coordinators, Jimbo is not really known to be good at hiring quality guys.

There anit nothing else more A&M like than paying way way more for a coach than he's actually worth and then being really, really proud of it.

Good luck dogs but I don't think Jimbo is the guy. Just sayin

One season?

With a ten year deal they won’t be able to afford to fire him to at least after year 5

Easy. His grace period is 10 years.

The buyout will be whatever is left on the contract. Which is cringeworthy. If he has four straight losing seasons, they will still owe him 45 million dollars.

Either OP is wrong or Aggie is legit retarded.

LSU wasn’t offering him a 10 year deal

Thank the lord!

That’s the worst contract in the country if true.

I think Jimbo would be an improvement from a coaching stand point (independent of contract numbers).

But I think 10 years/$7.5 million puts entirely too much stock into his 1 national championship. You make that commitment to Saban or Urban Meyer. What has Jimbo done to earn that kind of monster deal? 1 title? Why not Miles or Gene Chizik. I hear Phil Fulmer is available.

He's a good coach. And I guess an absurd deal is how you poach a good coach from a quality program. But damn.

So the full 75 would be guaranteed, correct?

One would assume. Most “buyouts” these days are just a structured settlement of what is remaining on the contract.

Locking yourself into a 10 year deal seems unfathomable. Jimbo flamed out at FSU in 8 seasons so it may end up working out. We’ll find out.

It's going to be fun laughing at the Aggie's! They went full retard with that deal!

Let’s think about the long term effect on the SEC. Saban is getting roughly 10 million, Dan Mullen is roughly 6 million, and Jimbo is 7.5 million. How much will LSU or other schools have to pony up to hire their next coach?

Or, Aggie just guaranteed football success for the next 10 years. It's hard to say which at this point, and really there isn't enough data. Fisher is a great hire, and if it took 75 million dollars and marrying him to do it fine, but at least they did it. That is something I can respect.

Takes a big sack to do something like that. 10 years is an eon in CFB terms! Congrats on the hire Aggies

Like that old saying about the lottery, you can't win if you don't buy a ticket. At least they have a good looking ticket
