It's getting to the point now where "want" isn't going to be able to play into it anymore. They're gonna be lucky to get Smokey to coach the team at this point.
ETA: That being said, I absolutely love Smokey. One of my favorite live mascots.

Mississippi State had a better list of candidates than what Tennessee has. They should be happy with Tee Martin, Char Morris, Vernables or someone.

Morris already turned them down. They won't settle for anything less than Kiffen if you read their boards, even though he left them in the middle of the night the first time

I honestly think they should go after Sumlin. He's am improvement over anything they've had in almost 20 years and can compete in the East quickly.

They are going to whine over anyone. This isn't about coaching or an AD. Just like the Missou protests, its about a bunch of entitled brats who want to complain for the sake of feeling relevant.

Tee Martin would not be protested. Les Miles would not be protested. Hell, Steele/Pruitt/Venebels would not be protested.
I just named 4 coordinators, and an LSU reject (who said he wants the job on Monday, btw), 3 with ZERO HC experience, and 1 with an abysmal HC record.
Y'all simply don't get it, we don't want anyone hand picked by the Haslams and Currie. The boosters have already told the brass that until Currie is dismissed and Haslam is no longer the only decision maker on the board of trustees, their donations will cease.
You need to take an honest look at what has happened to Tennessee over the last 15 years and stop using the turmoil as an opportunity to bash the fans.

They have been feeding off the Gruden rumors for so long they have lost sense of reality. Only a true home run hire will appease them but the way they treated Schiano has turned off any reasonable coach hire.
They will have to settle for an interim-interim coach (like Ole Miss) until things become stabilized. It’s a very bad look for Tennessee right.
They should fire Currie and hire Fulmer immediately which would at least look like they are taking control of situation.
Also, the fact they are releasing info on who they are interviewing is very bad. Gundy played them to get the Osu fan base back behind him after losing 3 games this year when they were expected to win the conference.

UT was unlucky. If UF had been able to get Frost or Kelly, UT would've gotten Mullen. Mullen was not the splash hire fans were dreaming of, but he was the hire UT needed.
Fans would've been somewhat disappointed with a Mullen hire, but they could see enough upside potential that they would've been OK with it.
Currie's buddy Schiano as the only ready backup plan was flawed. He was not a good fit, would not be popular with the fans and the PSU baggage should've been the 3rd strike to cross him off their list.
At the very least, Currie should've had another ready backup besides Schiano, and floated a Schiano balloon. Currie fricked up badly.

Exactly, they are so humiliated as of right now. If they actually bring back Kiffin, they would look even worse: The cuckolds of college football. For all sorts of PR reasons, they should pick almost anyone over Kiffin. Good lord.

They won a title almost 20 years ago. Were one game away from another shot in 2001 too.
