Progfilth has fostered this atmosphere for a generation.....

Nah, this the bed progs made so let them sleep in it. They will eventually dial it back now that it has become equal opportunity and not just a tool against the right.

They don't have to tell you jack shite. I'm sure they were confident he had done this or he never would've been fired.
Im afraid I am in agreement with toddy. Consider though nbc covered for Weinstein and had a history of incompetence at the executive level. Lauer probably did some wild shite and the accuser probably had proof, but I can see nbc unloading him because they’re terrified of the lynch mob
Whatever, Matt got what he wanted. The woman was believed and the man punished

Rape? GD!
If Matt Lauer can’t get eager and willing ladies to spread their legs, who the hell can?
These dudes must be drunk on power.

Did Lauer report or discuss any unsubstantiated allegations against other public figures on the air?
There's the kicker. Rock throwers in a glass house usually end up getting cuts of their own.

Lauer' political leanings are irrelevant in this case. Everyone should be deeply troubled by this hysteria sweeping the country where it is now laudable to literally call someone a rapist on a national news broadcast the day after a single allegation by a single individual is made.

That doesn't make their actions any less troubling though.
So what exactly do you want to do?Create some govt
beuaracracy that reviews what standards private corporations can hold their employees to?
It also a little bit different if the accused is in the public eye almost daily and dependent on sponsorship dollars.
If Lauer felt he was unjustly fired does he not have recourse?Cannot he not fight these actions?O'Reilly certainly is.

An elected official isn’t merely “employed”. I don’t know if Franken’s actions should result in his removal or not, but removing an elected Senator is a different type of thing than firing an employee from a company whose business is directly related to public opinion (viewership).
I loathe Franken, fwiw.
Of course but they have many actions they could take to get Franken out. The first would have been asking him to step down. They didn't even do that. They have made it clear they will protect him.

Just to be clear, several outlets are saying this is far from an isolated incident and there are multiple victims.

Lauer Interviews O'Reilly
Very interesting listening to this with this new info out there.

Agreed, EXCEPT that liberal men are such pussies and don't fight back b/c they can't imagine a world in which people would get their back. They are cowardly cucks.
If Lauer would fight this and say it's bullshite I'd not hesitate to get his back. But he will snivel and apologize and take his payoff like the bitch he is.

Agreed. Firing him at 3:00 in the morning less than 48 hours after the allegations are brought to light is total bullshite. I’d say at least sit on it for a week or two to conduct an investigation.
If Lauer openly admitted to it, then firing him is fine. But if he didn’t, they should do an actual investigation.

For NBC to fire their golden boy, there must be damning evidence. I do not see where John Q Public is owed any evidence though. If you were fired from your job, I'd not need an explanation. He just happens to be a public figure.
Posted on 11/29/17 at 9:48 am to SirWinston
so in your world when you have done something wrong don't be a pussy fight back. don't apologize for the wrong you have done just stand and fight like a real man?

that they fired him at 3 in the morning less than 48 hours after the accusations...probably means he did some wild shite and either admitted it or there was evidence of some kind.
then again it's nbc, so who the frick knows. these are the geniuses that paid megyn Kelly (a square peg) $15 million to do a daytime talk show (a round hole) and the geniuses that gave conan (who was not exactly setting the world on fire against craig ferguson) the tonight show while jay leno was #1

saw someone on here say he's not worth $20 million...no, he's worth every fricking penny, or was.

Today show is an institution and NBC's goose that lays golden eggs. Matt Lauer has anchored that thing for 20 years and is the face if that show. I have a hard time believing this was just some knee jerk reaction by management. It must be pretty bad....like Weinsein sort of bad for them to do something that drastic.

I agree. He is to NBC what Dan Rather was to CBS in his heyday. To shite-can him it has to be bad and open/shut case.
