If you're going to fire a man over a single allegation...
Posted by Roger Klarvin on 11/29/17 at 9:11 am614
And drag his name through the mud on NATIONAL TELEVISION, you need to also make public the evidence that was so damning that you felt such an action was justified. I don't need names, but I need to know that you have pictures, audio, SOMETHING that justifies such rash action.
Lauer' political leanings are irrelevant in this case. Everyone should be deeply troubled by this hysteria sweeping the country where it is now laudable to literally call someone a rapist on a national news broadcast the day after a single allegation by a single individual is made.

Agreed but seeing their politically motivated attacks backfire on them is outstanding, bigly.

Maybe Lauer doesn't want the evidence exposed. That's my guess.

I agree.
Secondarily.
If he was fired based on really solid evidence, shouldn't this be on a REAL court and not just the public opinion court?

It’s a bit hypocritical of them to drag everyone else’s name through the mud with unfounded accusations while at the same time keeping there’s a secret though.

Supposedly Vanity Fair and NYT were working on stories for the last two months before this story broke.
But this is definitely a moral panic.

Think about this for a minute....Al Franken is still employed DESPITE pictures. The Dems will defend each other at all costs.
NBC is one of the biggest Dem shills out there. If they dismissed the guy there is something seriously bad there.

I'd rather leave it up to the individual if they want to go public with it or not. If they refute the accusations then yeah make it public, but if they say I fricked up but rather not have the gory details blasted everywhere then I think it better just to respect that.

Not troubled at all. I’m a huge fan of people being held to the standards they want for everyone else. Democrats are learning a lesson. Maybe now they’ll want to rethink some things

Isn't it weird how so few of these men who've been accused have been arrested and put on trial or otherwise taken to court? One would think that these accusers would want them off the streets.

Absolutely
That doesn't make their actions any less troubling though.

They don't have to tell you jack shite. I'm sure they were confident he had done this or he never would've been fired.
This is not politics where the President or a preacher from Alabama can be elected after committing and/or bragging about sexual assault.

This philosophy of "everyone is a victim" is coming back to bite them in the arse.

I guess Lauer can always sue them,if it's bullshite.

Never said they did, I said they should feel obligated to do so.
If there is damning evidence, expose Lauer for what he is. Remove all doubt. They've already called him a rapist, if it isn't true nothing else they could reveal would be any more damning in a future civil case. If it is true it wouldn't matter.

In this current climate I have no reason to believe that

There is a barrage of evidence coming. Story broke that Lauer has been under investigation for some time outside of NBC. NBC was given the heads up and they acted immediately. Other media is about to release story/investigation on Lauer.
NBC took the "correct" action because they had zero choice. NBC has known about the allegations and others for some time.
Not sure if the rape in Rio has been confirmed but think this is what prompted the other investigations into him.

Ask yourself this: Did Lauer report or discuss any unsubstantiated allegations against other public figures on the air?

An elected official isn’t merely “employed”. I don’t know if Franken’s actions should result in his removal or not, but removing an elected Senator is a different type of thing than firing an employee from a company whose business is directly related to public opinion (viewership).
I loathe Franken, fwiw.
