It's not a single allegation. That's NBC corporate arse-covering.

EXACTLY. Dam is about to burst and NBC trying to cover their own arse. They have known about the outside investigations for quite awhile.

Lauer' political leanings are irrelevant in this case. Everyone should be deeply troubled by this hysteria sweeping the country where it is now laudable to literally call someone a rapist on a national news broadcast the day after a single allegation by a single individual is made.

It's all a continuing part of the new progressive McCarthyism. This will usher in a new idea that men shouldn't be allowed in the workplace for safety reasons.

Today show is an institution and NBC's goose that lays golden eggs. Matt Lauer has anchored that thing for 20 years and is the face if that show. I have a hard time believing this was just some knee jerk reaction by management. It must be pretty bad.

Agreed but with one caveat...it’s nbc

As much as I am enjoying the shaming of the left by application of the same standards to it as they have applied the political right, I have to disagree.

Details should be reported. Not names. You want to fire someone, and then make it public that you did it because he committed a felony? you best be sure to expose the details (ie the facts and evidence supporting your opinion). Otherwise - you’re reporting your opinion as news.

The Media wants to think it has some kind of
Legal authority that other private citizens do not. Members of the media have no greater authority than regular people. Employers, no matter who they are have no right to blab about the employment decisions they make. And they have no right to accuse someone of a crime.

A television network is not a court. It has no greater free speech rights than I do. They need to stop acting as if they are. Posting half information like they did - doesn’t do actual victims any good, or the accused any good.

It just creates a witch hunt against men who live in a free country. And that is bullshite.

And drag his name through the mud on NATIONAL TELEVISION, you need to also make public the evidence that was so damning that you felt such an action was justified. I don't need names, but I need to know that you have pictures, audio, SOMETHING that justifies such rash action.

These firings don't come cheap and you can bet your arse that Lauer just started rolling in some fresh cash based on an extremely generous severance package for being forced out. Likely not much unlike the one Bill O'Reilly got, but of course you won't hear about it because part of this severance package is likely a gag on discussing the issues involved.

That's how it works. Look at O'Reilly. He's literally banned from discussing anything about it based on his settlements and severance package.

The people who’ve promoted this witch hunt are the ones being ripped to shreds by it. If you want to make an omelette you gotta break some eggs. The people promoting these ideas aren’t going to be much longer. It’s like Ebola. It kills so quickly that it kills itself.
