What’s your vegas hotel of choice?

The show we want to go to is at the MGM Grand, But it looks a little dated. Anyone stay there recently? Would you recommend? We were thinking about staying at the Wynn.

I’ve only been to Vegas once, but I can tell you the Bellagio is old and dated, and the Aria seemed to be much newer and nicer.

Highly recommend Wynn. Stayed last May. Far end of strip. Good restaurants. Beautiful casinos. Smoke free

Cosmo is nice if you like the "hip" vibe. Very nice balcony suites that overlook Belaggio's fountains for around $300-400/night. For a more traditinal vibe, for me nothing beats the Venetian. All the rooms are suite types, and there is so much to offer there. Nice mall with baller stores, gondolas, restaurants of every type, big casino...You can spend a whole weekend there without ever leaving the hotel.

My current favorite is the Venetian. I like the location, the building is amazing and all of the rooms are suites. The Wynn is right next door, although in Vegas terms that may mean a half mile away. That is also a beautiful hotel. I have never stayed there but I have spent time there. I have been going to Caesar's Palace since 1980. That is my nostalgic favorite although some of the rooms are not as nice as the ones at the Venetian. Good restaurants, nice shopping mall attached and my favorite sports book in town. I stayed at the MGM Grand 3 weeks after it opened but that was years ago. It was nice but I would rather stay in the Caesar's/Venetian area of the strip. If the choice is the Wynn vs. the MGM Grand that is a no brainer. I would stay at the Wynn.

I prefer Aria for the pool

The Four Seasons at the top of Mandalay Bay. Great place to get away from the chaos at the end of the day. Get the studio strip-view suite

It kind of depends what you’re looking for, but here’s a general list:
Top tier:
Wynn/encore
Aria
Cosmo
Next tier:
Venetian/palazzo
Caesars
Tier C:
Bellagio
Tier D:
MGM
Mandalay
Mirage
Palms and hard rock are both fun, but off the strip. Mandalay is a really nice hotel, with a great pool, but it’s the southernmost hotel on the strip, and even before the shooting, wasn’t very lively because people just don’t stay there due to the location.
If you are looking for a party vibe, choose a hotel that has one of the popular night clubs or pool parties.

Stayed at the treasure Island last year, enjoyed it. It was nice but not "Vegas nice". It was 4 dudes just going to party and we knew we wouldn't really be there that much. We chose it because of the location and the price.
If I was going with a lady friend, I'd go with Aria or Venetian.

stayed there a few months back for the same reason- location and price. i spent zero time in the hotel besides a few hours of sleep in my room.
i remember 15-20 years back when it was a more recent addition to the strip, it wasnt a bad place to hang out and gamble, drink, etc. ever since the night/day club revolution, with many other hotels passing by the ti in terms of vibe and quality, it's really gone downhill. i wouldnt say ti attracts a rough crowd, but it definitely doesn't attract an attractive crowd.
Regarding MGM - hosts one of the most popular dayclubs and night clubs, so it will always be lively. rooms are solid, and the pricing is excellent. location is not prime- none of the neighboring hotels offer anything of interest. MGM is the largest property in vegas, and it can be a major mission walking the casino floor. The crowd can be a bit rough, e.g. you get the people that are there to party, but they are on the trashier side.

If all you plan on using the room for is to sleep, I love staying at Harrah's. Cheaper, GOAT location, and quickest elevators.

i'd add flamingo and ballys to this list, for the same reasons.

Went for a bachelor party a couple years ago and we stayed at the Cosmo. It was excellent and in a really nice location IMO. That being said, if I went back I wouldn't stay there simply because of the pricing. Like a poster above said, all we used the rooms for was showering, getting dressed and sleeping. I think it's a cool experience to stay somewhere nice, but after being there you realize how unnecessary the costs associated are.

Cosmo is the type of place you stay at if you’re going to Vegas to party, and are content not leaving your hotel.

No love for downtown? I also like the Golden Nugget.

I am trying to decide between the Paris or NY,NY. Any suggestions or thoughts on these two?

Caesar's, puts you right in the middle of everything.

Cosmo is my favorite with Aria being right behind. I like the vibe and location/ease of getting in and out of Cosmo a little better than Aria. Plus, Cosmo has the best showers on the planet.
Best part of Cosmo is probably the density of the hotel if you stay in the Boulevard tower (front). Casino/restaurants/sports book/etc. are right downstairs and not near as spread out as in most of the hotels.
