Winter thread: 3.5" officially in BR on the 8th day of meteorological winter!!

There's not much action for Louisiana on my favorite weather forum, and I believe we've got some junkies here so let's give this a try!
I'm mainly interested in reading the opinions of others as it relates to the big climate factors for our area [(nao, pna, la nina, gulf lows (or lack thereof)...]
The more graphics and evidence, the better.
Full disclosure: I'm always rooting for cold and snow (always have), and I get emotional when I see cold air anomalies in GFS fantasy land.
I'll start us off by saying it looks like we could have a hell of a cold front approaching around 8 Dec.
and hopefully a -nao to lock in the cold...something we haven't experienced in quite a few Decembers.

Sometimes this pattern can last for quite a few weeks (see January and Feb of 2011 and 2014)

It got consumed by Southeast region forum in wx.
Those people love the snow, and even though I don't understand everything they say I learn a lot trying.
That region is dear to my heart anyway, specifically Asheville/Boone NC area. I'm going later this year, and I hope it's 5 degrees

I'm keeping an eye on the system that's supposed to hit CO/WY/UT this coming weekend and provide a bunch of snow. Is that the system that will be here after causing the cool temps?

I love weather stuff, but don't know nearly as much as you guys apparently do. If I had it to do over again, I would have considered "weather guy" or "planetary scientist". I done screwed up.

You posted something like this suggesting it would snow in SE LA the Saturday after Thanksgiving. That was a bust.

GFS fantasy land. It'll happen a few times this year. There will be a cold front sweeping down with deep cold air chasing the precip. Shows up and gets us all excited about snow but always doesn't work out.
Climate models have us looking at a warmer winter and unless that volcano short circuits the La Nina (which i have no idea how this would work fwiw), it'll probably be warmish and dry for us.

A warm dry winter in the south is the best weather in the world IMO. Maybe the Southwest has it better temp and humidity wise but I’ll take the landscape down here.
There was one winter not too long ago where it was 60, sunny, and low humidity for almost all of January.

As long as it's cool enough not to run the AC, I'm generally in.
This year it seems like it'll be a function of La Nina getting rolling, which typically means we'll pay for it come hurricane season.

You've got the wrong guy, but that was exciting for about 30 minutes until the next run came out.
