He’s been jogging all year. He makes a few big plays but he loafs A LOT. Go rewatch some of the long runs against us this year, as soon as the RB gets a step past him he gives up on the play.

This x100. It’s very frustrating to watch.

The guy is good in that hybrid S/LB role that has become so popular in the league. He's valuable there

The hybrid spot is only a way to salvage a guy who cannot strictly play safety like he was intended to do.

Vaccaro is like Mark Barron, an average to below average safety. Barron made the permanent switch to LB and now he’s legit. Watching Vaccaro trying to cover cooper kupp was pretty funny. Let him cover TEs and be done with it

His play was disgraceful. Witting on that long pass showcases an immature player, and a disaster in general on pass defense.

Jesus Christ... What's with you and people like you that take such an interest in what a player is paid. Today it's Vaccaro, tomorrow it's Brees, a few years ago it was Sproles.

If you want to knock his play yesterday, fine, do it. There is plenty to bitch about there. Want to argue that the secondary was decimated so he was playing out of his comfort zone? That's a valid statement too. The other 31 teams in the NFL drive the price of players, not "well you gave up on that play against the Rams, so we're going to give you less money." Finally, it's not your money; so shut the frick up.

I disagree. He has way too many bad games to justify over-paying him.

Over-paying Vaccaro means we have less money to pay someone else.

He's worth a decent salary.
He isn't a top 10 safety at all.

What the hell is wrong with you? His value to the team is what is key, not done over inflated value due to other teams. Reality is the Saints need to think more like the Pats and not overpay to keep replaceable and flawed players unless the money is right.

That’s my point. He doesn’t bring enough to the table to warrant a high salary given his attitude and weaknesses.

He's worth the 5.6mil 5th year option, but like you ssaid he's not a top 10 safety at all.

10th in salary is 7.2mil, he isn't worth that when true safeties are going for 6-7 and are better (hi weddle)

He's such a bitch he's literally the reason why every other guy on the team has to kneel before the anthem.

Our defense is still suspect. We've been able to hide some deficiencies. We have serious depth issues on that side of the ball. The defensive line is very weak, other than Cam. Fairley made it respectable but who knows if he will comeback. The linebackers are the same. Klein the only real good player we have. And then you have the secondary. Lattimore is the stutdown corner and then you have everyone else. Crawley has improved his play but he can still be beat badly. Vonn Bell has not shown anything this year. Williams is still a rookie so I'll give him the pass. PJ is also average.

We do now, but we actually did a pretty damn good job of adding depth in the offseason.

he linebackers are the same. Klein the only real good player we have

So the linebackers are the same minus the good linebacker we added? He's not even the best linebacker on the team btw. Craig has been great.

Well he hasn't been beat badly. He's played very well and is a fine #2

Williams is still a rookie so I'll give him the pass

A pass? He's played very well. He's sound which is more than you can expect from a rookie

quote:

PJ is also average.

I'll take average for the dime corner on the team. That's added depth compared to last year when he started out as the #2 and then was knocked out for the year in week 2

WTF happened on that deep pass. When the ball was in the air I thought he would have a chance to pick it but he just stopped. Did he think the play was dead?

In fairness to KV he def lost the ball in the sun on that play.

Talk about home field adventage for LA - hopefully any playoff game out there would be at night

I certainly seem to be yelling "wtf is Vaccaro doing?!" a whole lot this season. He's usually good in run support but he also whiffed on a tackle badly Sunday, in addition to his pathetic pass defense.

Klein is useful for his communications skills on the field and making adjustments. Other than that, he's been decent at best IMO.

Robertson and Te'O have had a few flash plays. I don't know if anybody has really stood in this group but their skills are different so I guess they complement each other. I have no doubt that this corp of LB's would be a wasteland if Vitt were still around going through the motions and collecting a check.

Due to injuries

quote:

The defensive line is very weak, other than Cam.

Okafor & Fairley were good. I wouldn't call our 3 man DT rotation weak. Rankins, Davison, & Onyemata are at least average as a group imo. Hendrickson has proven to be a decent rotational guy when given the chance. Kikaha started off good, but hasn't done shite recently. Muhammad is still an unknown.

quote:

The linebackers are the same. Klein the only real good player we have.

Klein, Robertson, & Te'o are serviceable. They do lack speed & athleticism, but they get the job done. Anzalone looked good before he got hurt (he actually has the speed & athleticism that we need at the LB position). Stupar is legit depth as well. We do need to give Nolan more talent to work with, but he gets the job done with these guys.

quote:

Crawley has improved his play but he can still be beat badly.

That's just false. He's been excellent in coverage all year. If you want to complain about his run defense & penalties...you would have a legit argument.

quote:

Vonn Bell has not shown anything this year. Williams is still a rookie so I'll give him the pass.

Bell is pretty damn good against the run (still needs to improve against the pass). Saying you give Williams a pass for being a rookie insinuates that he hasn't played well. That's not the case.

quote:

PJ is also average.

Which means that he's a good backup. He's fast & he's good at stopping the run for a CB. He can also play inside & outside. He's a good guy to have on the roster.
